Unspoken Rules of the Board and Why You Enjoy Using This Board
Permalink Closed

Hey Everyone! I am writing a paper about the community here at Stylethread for a Consumer Behavior course. I would LOVE it if you could write some of the unspoken rules you personally follow on this board-and maybe why you come to the board. Thanks in Advance!

the one rule i think is very important is that we maintain a friendly environment.  we may not all have the same taiste, and we may not all like the things that people post, but if you don't like something, you shouldn't totaly trash it.  their are nice ways to tell someone that you don't share the same style without hurting their feelings.  i think that helps keep this a great place to find advice and commrodery among the shopping and fashion addicted.

sorry for my spelling, i am having a really "duh" day.

Positive reinforcement seems the modus operandi here.  Which is to say, it seems those of us who come back day after day are seeking real suggestions or answers and are willing to give them in a kind, discerning manner.

Haha!  Glad to have helped!

Another "rule" is the acceptance factor I think: we've got this grand assortment of ladies from all walks of life; all ages, areas of the country(ies), styles, etc...and this means we all come to the table with different takes on the same styles.  And yet, despite all the potential for sniping and smirking...we all seem to embrace the differences.  One person inspires another...rather than one person being labeled as odd.

I think wording dissenting opinions in a careful and kind way.  It is easy to misinterpret things over the internet, and once in a while, even when i say, "Sorry I don't like it" to something, I fear I am hurting someones feelings.  So I take the person who asked into consideration- some prefer tough love or to hear it like it is, some I'm not as sure about, so I am still honest, but not as blunt.  Everyone's personalities need to be taken into consideration, which comes as you get to know the people on the board.
