...another thing online I think we should all know that by clicking on the links on top of the ST page we can help contribute to our favorite website. It is a small and easy way to help ST stay afloat. I know that I never knew and wanted to make sure everyone else on the board was aware.
wow, that is so good to know. i know i have only been a member for a short time, but this site is a blessing. it is my first stop for fashion advice. thanks for letting us know.
I did this for the first time -bought about $100 of ON stuff - I know it's not much but every little bit helps, right?!?! And if we are buying online anyway, I think it's a great thing. I wasn't aware of this either - I'm so glad we are talking about this.
Now I'll get my hubby to do his ebay purchases this way - seriously, that should help!

I bought some stuff last week on drugstore.com through this site. Too bad Anthro doesn't have their site link on there or you could really make a mint on me.

Thank you, Drew!
About Anthro - I know! I tried looking into whether or not they have an affiliate program yesterday and haven't found anything --yet. I'm going to try to contact them directly...

You should find out were there corporate headquarters is and then ask for their online media dept. They may outsource their media so don't be surprised if they direct you to another company. You probably know all this but I thought I'd add my 2cents bc they should totally be a link on this site considering how much we talk about the store.
Banana is in the same boat as Anthro... maybe they feel they are successful enough without having to advertise, and they may also be very protective of their brand image and don't want to participate in affiliate programs on the web (not all sites look like ST.) But this doesn't mean I'm not going to try - I have nothing to lose by contacting them!

Detroit-I thought Anthro and UO are owned by the same parent (or somehow affiliated) kind of like Banana/Gap/ON - do you think they treat their media as 2 separate companies?

yes, this is true, but companies treat each of their brands separately - how they want to market one, may not be the way they want to market another. also, typically, affiliate advertising is handled by a 3rd party, and not directly through the parent company.

found this on the net:
"Amy Steel, senior manager of marketing for Philadelphia-based Anthropologie, says concerns about affinity have kept the cataloger/retailer of eclectic women's apparel and home furnishings from getting involved in affiliate marketing. “We've been unable to find companies that match our brand close enough for us to be affiliated with,” she says. “We wouldn't want to do anything that might eclipse who we are.”
AND
"Can I be a Banana Republic affiliate?
Banana Republic's affiliate program is by invitation only."
so no anthro and no banana at this time

Wow. Who matches anthro better than a bunch of their very own customers! How short sighted of them.
