-knowing that there are other stylish gals out there that manage to pull it off in unstylish places

-friendship. I love you girls! I don't know how it happened, but I think this forum somehow attracted some of the most intelligent, insightful, caring, and all around fabulous girls out there.

  • Being able to share my fashion obsession with those that understand

  • I think thread style is my favorite section, because it's so cool to see all the awesome outfits and different styles.

  • Getting truly helpful advice from people that really seem to care.

1)  FINALLY somewhere where I can discuss fashion and it's specifics.  I have no one in the real world right now that I can do this with

2) That you guys aren't snarky like other forums can be.  You're more respectful towards people, even when disagreeing

3) Everyone here is so helpful!  We all seem to look out for each other, whether it be seeing a fashion item we think totally fits another member, or if it's just offering advice or listening when one of us has a problem

all of the above! Plus

You girls are really smart! I never remember reading a comment and thinking "that's dumb". You make perfect sense!

There is this caring attitude without expecting anything in return that I loave and it's very rare

You are just plain nice!

Oh...where to begin?

I love that this group of girls is so supportive of one another.  In so many ways too.  It's hard to describe, but I get this feeling that most of us really genuinely care about one another.

Fashion advice/tips/coupon codes.

Being able to vent to a pretty objective and somewhat anonymous crowd.  It's just very cathartic to write about what's bugging you, ya know?

Finding out about other stuff going on, particularly links to other awesome sites.  Seriously, when I think about it, I found out about www.thesuperficial.com, www.gofugyourself.com, www.cuteoverload.com and the wonders of Sudoku puzzles, Netflix, and myspace all from this forum.  That's pretty cool.

Also hard to describe, but I feel like we all "get" each other here.  Like we can all see the humor in much of the same stuff.  I think it's pretty neat.

I could go on and on, but I won't.  I just think you all are special and it's cool to be part of something as special as this site.  [\end tear jerking moment]

First and foremost, everyone is so nice and welcoming to newbies like me!  Also, I love that I have a place to talk about shopping, clothes, deals and trends-being that I am the only female in a household of 4 males I really need this outlet!

I should post my engl. paper I wrote on ST on here. I talked you girls up so much. My conclusion said "I am a Stylethreader for life." lol made up words-gotta love 'em! But really, I talked about the creative inspiration, the sense of community, and the "faceless" friendship that allows me to just be me.

For me, the most amazing thing about ST, and this forum, is what I was seeking has not ended up being what I most enjoy.. the fashion aspect is what I joined for, the connection I have made with all of you, in some form, motivates me to stay. In my real, everyday life, making friends with women have always been very hard- maybe it will take me along time to figure out why this is true- but it is. I have such an easy relationship with men though. I never feel "What am I going to say? Are they going to think Im ok? Do they like me?" I have many acquaintences, women that I work with, who I visit with- but, I never really get too close. Alot of them tell me, "All the men here love you..." But, I think- "No, they just feel comfortable, because I do. But, you really frighten me." I think the bottom line is that in order to have friends with other women you have to go below the surface, you have to be vulnerable, you have to reveal yourself-and for me this is hard to do. On ST, I have realized that you, as women,  go through the same worries, relationship issues, and fears that I do. This would probably seem such an evident concept to many of you- but, for me it is huge. I really get so much from being apart of all this.

So many things!

  • Having a group of women to talk to about anything and everything! It seems like no matter what happens to me, at least one other person can relate and helps me through it.

  • This one kind of goes with the first one-- the absolute outpouring of support when anyone has a crisis or issue. It's unbelievable to me how caring and supportive the women on this forum are.

  • Of course, being able to talk fashion. Most of my friends are guys who could give a rat's ass about fashion, so it's nice to be able to discuss it here.

lilyann, I absolutely agree with what you said. I've always had a hard time making friends with women. My social network consists mainly of men. It's not that I'm not friendly, but I feel like women don't always respond well to me and I'm not sure why. But here, I've found a wonderful network of women and I wish you all lived in my town!!

-Whether you buy a $2 top or a $200, we get excited about it.

-If you're in a rut or need outfit suggestions someone always has some advice.

-If you're on a ban, the girls will make sure you stick to it!

-You can ask for advice on so many different levels: what color to paint your bedroom, which shoes look the best with a top, if your date was a loser or just a guy, what new songs you should download, whether or not that movie was worth seeing, etc etc

-I love looking at all the outfits in TS and getting inspiration.

So basically: EVERYTHING!
