I was on ortho for about 4 years, went on it because it had been found to help clear up complexion and acne etc... even though i didnt have acne.  Anyways, i haven't been on bc for a year because i wasn't able to get in to get an appt. etc.. so i am going tomorrow and wanted to get back on bc again, just to help with breakouts when it gets close to my period, and to keep things regular, etc.  I can totally tell when im about to get my period because i get a few pimples.  Anyone have some suggestions on what bc i should suggest or ask about?  I know when i first went on ortho it made me gain weight until i used it regularly for a while.

I would talk it all out with the doctor. What you've been on, what you prefer, concerns, etc.  My doctor would prescribe me one and if I had issues after a month on it she would change my prescription on the phone if I needed it. 


Yasmin is the only one I know that says it prevents weight gain (you actually lose a few water pounds from it).  I don't know about acne.

I've been on Estrostep for about a year or so and it's done wonders for my skin.  Along w/ my skin care regimen, I feel like I have new skin and the kind of skin I always wanted when I was a teenager.  It was actually my dermatologist that gave me the recommendation and told me to call my gyno and see if I could get a sample of Estrostep, but she also recommended a few other BC pills.  Maybe you can see if your derm can recommend a few for you to try out.  Just a thought.

Thanks NC... i didnt know derms had any knowledge about it, and its funny because im seeing my derm at 845 tomorrow and then my gyno at 1130


So i will ask about it

NC... just wanted to let you know i went to my gyno today told her my problems, and she recommended estrostep for me... gave me a few samples, and a Rx, so i am now on it...
