Denim skirts
Permalink Closed

Does anyone have one that they love? My workplace is outlawing denim pants (even dressy ones, like the Express editors) but they say we can wear denim skirts of any shade, denim jackets, etc. (Silly, huh?)

Anyway, I would love a great knee-length denim skirt. Here's my problem, though: Every denim skirt I have ever owned rides up on me. Meaning it wants to sit directly under my ribcage at all times. Belts don't help, and neither does sizing up or down. I think the problem is that I have no waist definition Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?

Or does anyone have this skirt? I really like it. I am open to other suggestions too, but it needs to be under $100 and have front pockets.

TIA

Banana just added this to their website, and I think it's adorable!  It's $78.

I've got my eye on a J Crew denim skirt.  It's supposed to hit above the knee, but it's not so super mini.  It also looks like a softer material, so I don't think riding up will be an issue.  The bonus is that it's $60 and it's on their final sale so I think it's free shipping.  Hmmm....I think I just talked myself into buying it!    Here's a picture:

I have a ?tulip? shaped one that I love that I got last year at Forever 21 of all places.

By tulip I mean it is fitted through the thigh and then flares out.

these are all so cute! The BR one is great, but I think I'd have to try it in person. Generally I stay away from circle skirts or anything A-line, because it ends up making my legs even more chickeny-obvious. But maybe if the material is soft enough?

lilmonkeyj - if you get the jcrew skirt, please review! Their stuff usually fits me strangely, so I am not brave enough to order final sale.

I also still really want this one (it looks so pretty on shopchicago) but I cannot pay this price for it.

Halleybird,

I just ordered it, so I should get it next week.  I'll let you know how it fits!  If you are interested, you might want to check sizes available before getting too excited about it.  I ordered a petite and luckily my size was available, but there were only two sizes left in petites.  I hope it works out since it's a final sale, but I've been having such a hard time finding the right length (above the knee but not mini) that I had to order it!  I'll page you when I get it.

yeah, it looks like they don't have my size. There's no way I could do petite -- I need the length! I hope it works out for you, though!

I own that Jcrew skirt and love it.  It's a good length and has enough stretch in the material that it doesn't seem to ride up or twist around like some denim skirts do.  I think if you can find one with a little stretch in the material or a thinner denim then what you'd find in jeans, it will fit better.

Not sure if it's what your looking for but I bought this one recently at Express and really like it.

Here's a shot of me wearing it just to show what it looks like on a human. I bought it for spring but have already worn it twice this winter (after getting the tights/boots idea from Shopchicago)
