The Toilets are Pink!
Permalink Closed

My bf bought a house and together he and I are remodeling it to sell it.  I like to think of all the work as "designed to sell".

The downstairs full bath is all pink- the vanity top, the basin, the toilet, the shower.  We can't afford to replace it.  What should I do?  I just painted the walls  "Swiss Coffee" which is a really nice cream color.

How should I combat the pink.  I need to get a shower curtain and a new faucet fixture. Can anyone think of some colors I should add to the room to make it not "pink".

When you mentioned "swiss coffee" it made me think of brown, and brown and pink can look really cool and sophisticated together.  You could even incorporate the brown in the paint (I know you already painted but...) by making wide stripes, or painting the bottom half, or maybe just do some accenting.  Sorry, that's all I got.

I was thinking about brown too. I really rich warm brown could make it better.

You could make it look vintage. My grandparents house was built in the 30's and they have a pink tub, vanity and toilet. It was orignal to the house and they were in very nice condtion so they decided to leave it when they gutted the house. My gran did everything in black and white. It actually looks really cool. She was never a huge fan of the pink, but they tried to keep as much of what was orginal to the house as they could.

I like the idea of chocolate brown and creme to try and combat the pink.  How about maybe adding some accents of teal in there if its not too bad of a pink color.

Oh, believe it or not, I'm jealous!  I'd love an old bathroom with pink fixtures!  Anyway, I echo the chocolate brown.  I think a stripe on the wall would look great.  One question though, what is the flooring?

Thanks Girls!  I was actually thinking brown too!  I do need further help though.

The pink. Its like pepto bismol pink.  More muted though, not as bright.  It could be really cute.  It was really ugly before we painted (wood paneling and country blue ducks- yikes)

If I am going to use brown, can someone please please help me find a brown (maybe w/ pink accents) shower curtain.  I am not a "frilly" kind of girl though.

I like the idea of vintage.  What about black and white check tiles? Maybe toile print in b/w?

I can't really tell what color the shower curtain is in this pic, but it might be brown. From the DKNY collection at Macy's.

I think you have the same bathroom as we used to!  Our house was built in the 60s so of our three bathrooms, one was yellow, one was blue, and one was pink.  Everything---the sinks, the toilets, the tile, the shower.  We recently redid them one at a time but for the first 5-6 years they were left in all their colorful glory.  For the pink one we painted our walls a sage green and covered up the bottom of the sink with a green brocade material curtain thing.  It looked pretty good.  I also like the idea of brown, although I personally am leery of brown in bathrooms (gross I know!).  I agree with ryanJ about the vintage look.  That sounds like it could be really cute.

I have the same bathroom myself. I used a big white hotel terry shower curtain and that covered all the tub. (from linens and things) I used green accents and white throw rugs and it looked better.
but i think brown, white and pink could be really nice!!

I had an apt. with a bathroom that had a pink toilet, bathtub and sink, pink and white floor tiles, and purple wall tiles with green trim. Its actually a very common color combo from that period. It became fun for me to try to find stuff to go with it. I know it sounds ugly, but I loved that bathroom, and those colors all looked so great together.

I do like the idea of brown and pink, or just really clean and white accents.

I think it might look cute if you made a retro theme to where the pink looks like it belongs there. White and silver might be good colors to put with it. Maybe even put stripes on the wall or either white paint and then just accents in silver. You could even play it up by putting vintage pictures up. Allposters.com has a great selection of vintage beauty ads that might work.
