Am I too old for my belly button ring?
Permalink Closed

I've had it since I was about 18- I'm almost 27 now. I would seriously feel weird/naked without it, but my bf is giving me a complex that its juvenile and time for me to take it out. I work in a professional environment but I don't ever show my tummy so no one knows its there- it only shows in public when I'm at the beach or pool in a bikini. I have a really nice ring in it, it's white gold and looks very similar to this, except there are only 2 charms/chains hanging down, not 3.:

So what do you think? Am I too old? I kind of want to wear it until I get pregnant one day, but that could be in 10 years!

Well...I'm 38 and have had mine since my mid-twenties. I'm in the same situation as you - no one ever sees it unless I'm in a two-piece bathing suit.

I told DH I wanted to take it out, but he still likes it, and it's not really bothering me, so I guess it's staying for a bit.

So give yourself another ten years or so, and then see what you think! *s*

No way!  If you like it, keep it.  When you start not to like it, take it out.

All my friends have them.  One kept hers in until she was about 5 months pregnant (she was 36 at the time) - it looked really cute!

Well if you're too old, so am I - I've had it since I was 19 and I'm 26 and I'm not taking it out anytime soon!  I still love it.  If you still love yours - keep it in!

I'm 23 and I'v e had mine for about 5 years and I can't imagine life without it. I've grown so attached to it! If it ever fell out I think I'd have to get it repierced. I'd say leave it in!

I'm not taking mine out anytime soon, either (I'll be 27 in a few weeks)

I just turned 27 a month ago and still have mine (got it 8 years ago); I still like mine and don't plan on taking it out anytime soon

I'm 26 and plan on keeping mine until I'm pregnant, which seems a natural time to take it out for me.  That won't be for years though!

Glad you decided to keep it.  I have one too.  I'm 28 and have had mine since 15.  I figure if I ever get fat in the belly then I can take it out (and I don't know if pregnancy counts for that; I'll wait and see).  Otherwise, I might be a wrinkly old lady with my belly ring one day, ha!

ooo, I'm glad you kept it too.  My reward for losing weight is to re-pierce mine.  Its like this secret little "hehe, I did something rebelish"
