Girls who take Birth Control Pills
Permalink Closed

How the heck do you remember to take your pill everyday?  I used to be so good at remembering, and I swear lately, I'm always forgetting and then having to double up, which makes me extremely nauseous.  Plus, if I miss too many, I spot.

Any tricks?  I don't want the patch either - been there and it sucked.

I take mine right before I go to bed at night - I keep my pills in the drawer with my toothbrush.  I don't take it at exactly the same time everyday, but it's usually give or take an hour.  I can't take them in the morning - if I did I'd constantly forget!

ETA:  In HS, one of my friends set her cell phone alarm to go off daily and give her a "Take your pill!" message - maybe that would work for you?

I take them every a.m. with breakfast. I just pull out the pills and my vitamins, and that's it. I really don't even think about it anymore...it's become such a habit.

I keep stuff liek that (pill, vitamins, etc) on top of the coffeepot. That way, when I go to make my coffee in the morning before work, I have to pick them up to get water in the pot.

I'm the same way; I can't remember a pill every day, at the same time, to save my life. That's why I switched to Depo

One of my friends sets a cell phone alarm as well, and it works for her. What every else suggested are also good ideas

That is how my brother and I came to be. My mom was really bad at rememebering to take her pill on time.

I have no suggestions because I am horrible at remembering to take medication on time too.

I keep mine on my nightstand and take it before I go to bed at night.

I've been taking it for so long, it is just a habit.  It's part of my morning routine.  I leave my pills next to my makeup and usually take it while I'm getting ready.

I'm going to try this - I just stuck them by my makeup..maybe that will help me remember.  I had them on my nightstand, but I can't remember every night.

I like the idea of setting my cell phone alarm, but I can't figure out how to make it recurring every day.

I take them every night before bed. I put them right next to the alarm clock, so there's no way my bf could miss them. Yeah, I make my bf remember to get it for me each night. Maybe that's the trick!

That wasn't meant to freak anyone out.

Please don't laugh at me, but no, I've been taking them since I was 19 so that's let's see....7 years How shameful.  I think my old age is catching up w/me.

just curious why you hated the patch.  i've been using it for about six months and i like it.  i have a few minor complaints, but compared to the fogetting pills, nauseau, and pregnancy scares...it is worth it to me.

I have gotten a little concerned about the blood clot risk with the patch, but my doctor explained the science to me and I feel a lot better about it.

Another question...what about the NuvaRing?  This is one that just isn't for me, but it might be an option to consider.

Because it kept falling off me. I'd find it in the shower drain - it was a pain in the butt and never stuck.  Several of my friends had the same issue, so I went back on the pill.  I have no side effects that bother me from the pill - I just need to remember to take it

I had a friend with the same problem.  The thing just wouldn't stick to her either.  I have pretty dry skin, so I wonder if that helps.
