Has anyone here had painful sex and found out what the cause of it was?

karina--that is definitely something to look into.  I'd call your gyno and make an appt.  you could have an infection or, I hate to say it, but something more serious (like a cyst or something).  I don't want to scare you, but you should probably have it checked out.  I think it could be caused by a lot of things, hopefully something benign in your case.  HTH a little sweetie!  Please call your doctor!!

Yes, I think something is very wrong. This happened on Saturday and I'm still in pain.  I'm going to the doctor later today.

The one time this happened to me, I had an ovarian cyst.  It finally ruptured on it's own...which is very painful and the pain stuck around a day or two.

This happened to me a few years ago, it would happen everytime I had sex.  Turns out I had to have a biopsy and colscopy (sp?) and I had abnormal cells on my cervix - I had to have them removed.  I don't want to scare you either, but definitely go see your gyno.

i agree with the others, it sounds like you could have a ruptured cyst.  i would go to the doctor and get it checked out.  when i had a ruptured cyst, it hurt like a b$%&!  (i had it the same time i had mono and a kidney infection though ).  there's no treatment for them, but it's a good idea to go to the doctor to make sure that's what is wrong.  like shopchicago33 said, the other commom problem could be abnormal cells.

i hope you feel better.  that's no fun.

I've had asymptomatic yeast infections in the past and the only way to tell was painful sex. I've gone to the gyno before and it's been no biggie, just some meds to get rid of the infection. You don't always have to have to typical symptoms to have one. (That's been my only cause of painful sex thus far.)

Could it be that your cervix is being hit?  That used to happen to me, and one time my abdomen hurt for a good many hours afterwards.

we DTD on saturday afternoon, and i started having a really bad cramping pain ... so i told him to stop, and i had horrible cramping, it felt like i was in labor or something.  i was curled up in a ball for the rest of the day.  on sunday i woke up, and the pain started radiating into my arms and shoulders, i didn't go to the ER because he was at work all day, and I had no one to stay with the kids.  I woke up today, and the pain is still there, but not as bad.  It just hurts when I walk (all from the top of my abdomen to above my private area), and I feel a weird pressure/pain when I pee, burp, etc.

Oh please! That's what sick days are for. You deserve to have a day off if you feel ill without any guilt. Let us know what the dr. says.

my friend once uhh tore something down there just because of the positioning and force.  She bled horribly and it was painful for weeks.  So I think you should still get it checked out, but is it possible that it happened because of the sex?

Sorry I didn't respond sooner.  I'm glad you went to the doctor.

I am no doctor, but I would bet you had a cysts and it ruptured during the deed.  It hurts really bad...and then just slowly the pain lessens over a couple of days.  If that is the case, the ultrasound may not show anything by Saturday.  When the cyst ruptures, the fluid is visible...but the body absorbs the fluid in a few days.

Someone else mentioned abnormal cervical cells...I have had that too.  However, I never experienced any pain with it...it was always a suprise to me after a pap smear.  Now, this has happened to me twice, and I had a colposcopy where they take a few samples of the cells and send them off to the lab.  Then depending on the results, they just either watch it, freeze or remove the cells, or whatever is needed.

I have had lots of wonderful gyno issues...i don't know why i am so lucky!!  NOT!  (ha ha - I haven't said "not" in ages)

The only other thing that comes to mind is endometriosis...but I thought it was mostly painful around the time of the period...but I am not sure.

It could also be some kind of harmless fibroid - lots of women get them and don't know, and they usually go away on their own.  Larger ones can cause pain and random bleeding though.

I'm glad they scheduled you an ultrasound though - always good to be thorough!

Did your doctor give you any idea what it might be? I'm glad you're getting the ultrasound too. I'll be thinking about you on Saturday!
