cant find dachshunds in chicago area!

so i havent completely made my decision on getting a dachshund, but before i would get one id want to take a look at him and talk to the breeder (unless it was from a rescue shelter). but i cant find any in IL by doing internet searches, or the people ive called dont answer.  where did you guys buy your dachshunds?

Have you looked in the newspaper?  that's where we got ours (from a family vs. a breeder per se).  also, have you checked online to see if there is a dachshund rescue in IL??   You'll find one!

Good luck w/ your Doxie. I have had them my whole life. They are fun ( a little high mantinece) dogs.


We have always gotten our daschunds from rescue groups. It is a little harder than going through a breeder, but I think it is definatley worth it. It makes me feel good to know that I helped a puppy that nobody wanted.
