I am such the - I can't wait for tonight. But I'm sad the season will be over too....

They need to reveal another cylon tonight! Give us something to gasp over until next season! Happy watching. (i feel that 2 nerd emoticons are called for at this point)

same here...can't wait, but am sad...especially since DH and i have practically lived and breathed BSG for the last 3 weeks as we caught all the way up to the current ep.  so if you think you're a nerd... alert over here!


i did hear that they are revealing another cylon tonight and i *cannot* figure out who it might be!  but i also read a review that said the last 30 minutes of tonight's show will completely change your perspective of the story and the characters.  i mean, not that i've been reading nerdy BSG articles and message boards or anything...


so, can't wait to meet you girls back here to discuss!

Ok, I am shocked. This is going to be a jumbled mess because I can't think straight.
I can't believe #1 that baltar is president. What an ass. *and can I just say all the man whore stuff really bugs me*...ANYWAY.......
And he surrendered? I mean, what choice did he have now that they are settled!
And Kara MARRIED that dude? OMG - of course he will probably die from the pnemonia so that's ok. And did you think apollo & dee were "together" still? they were addressing each other rather formally I thought.
And Baltar's own #8 came down - perfect!
And it's not coming on again until October????

I thought it was pretty chicken shit of them to make the priest the cylon. They introduced a new character & made them the cylon - can you say COP OUT? It's supposed to be someone surprising, not just the dude from Quantum Leap that they introduced last week. Disappointing.

But I thought it was really good. I kept thinking of what you said, valencia, about the last 30 minutes changing the perspective. I had no idea though....wow. just wow....

well that episode was just frakked up...


i was so pissed off in the last 15 minutes of the show...i was like fuming...and then our tivo cut off the last minute...so i decided i couldn't form an opinion until i watched the last minute this morning when we rerecorded it.  unfortunately my opinion is the same.  ugh.


on the one hand, i am kind of okay with it...it's sort of like come full circle and they are practically back where they started.  and i am actually totally okay with the baltar storyline, because he realizes that it is ALL HIS FAULT!  he betrayed humanity once, and then he did it again by giving the Demand Peach chick the nuke...which was what led the cylons to them once he made the dumbass decision to settle on the planet.  i don't like him as Pres. but i like how they've made him realize that his dick keeps getting him into trouble with his own people.


but on the other hand...OMG...i am sooooo annoyed that they skipped ahead a year and we're just supposed to buy into the current reality?  Kara (hee, i love that she has the same name as me) married lame-o Anders?  the idea of him dying of pneumonia makes me laugh too...it's perfect...it's like in Gone With the Wind when Scarlett's first wussy husband (Charles?) dies in the war...of pneumonia...how wussy and lame...heh.  I hadn't thought about the fact that maybe Apollo and Dee weren't together anymore, just forced to work together awkwardly...hmmm...  But then the Chief is having all these existential issues and it's so realistic that people might be afraid they're cylons and not know it and then he just gets over it, becomes the union president and impregnates Cally?  And what is Gaeta's deal?  is he Baltar's errand boy now?  did he 'pick sides' over the election-rigging?  and *where* is Tom Zarek!?!?  i would have been interested to see how he was manipulating Baltar, etc.  grrrrrr...


mostly i just love the show for it's character development and i felt like we were completely robbed of that in this episode (and the last year of their lives).  we didn't get to see how everyone's lives changed, just that they did change.  i want to know what Apollo and Adama think of Kara marrying Lame-o.  i want to know what went on with Cally and the Chief besides that 2 second scene in the infirmary.  i want to know what's going on with Roslin...is she okay being a schoolteacher again?  does everyone look down on her for it or respect her?  and so Sharon was mad about them taking away her baby but she hasn't really done anything about it.  and where even is she?  did they keep her in the cell on Galactica?  aaaaahhhhh...i wanted to see everyone adjusting to the settlement plan instead of just jumping to when they have to run again.


damn...i meant to keep this post short...clearly i'm worked up.

AHHHH!!!


I am having trouble acclimating. What a strange episode. All those story threads jammed all together... I still thought it was good, but it was a LOT to take in.


I actually didn't mind Starbuck (or Kara now, since she's not in the service anymore, huh?) being married to Anders (although her extensions freaked me out). I am finding their relationship a lot more believable than Lee/Dee. Speaking of whom, though, why the hell does he hate Kara now? What was that all about? I kept squirming during that scene where she had just brought Anders back and they're making out and Lee is there... he was so obviously completely miserable... he still loves her, sigh...


And I like Cally & Chief together, and him as the union leader--I can really see that. Actually, come to think of it, most of what they've done makes sense to me--it's just going to take some getting used to. And I can't believe the stupid-ass fleet elected BALTAR... boy are they paying for that right now. I kind of wish they had made his character at least make an EFFORT, though, to do something useful. Sure the presidential run was all about ego and power, but now that he has the power you'd think he might have just a little time to do something constructive. You can't have threesomes with hookers all day EVERY day, can you?


Oh, and the Adama porn-star stache has GOT to go.

I loved this episode!  The "one year later" bit shocked me at first, but I think it will be a great direction for the show.  I think any super important plot turns that happened during the year will be shown through flashbacks.  I think it was an easy way for the writers to deal with the settlement on the planet and the establishment of the social structure on New Caprica. We got the basic idea of what everyone was up to during the past year, and this way next season they can get right into what will happen now that they live on the crappy planet and have surrendered to the Cylons. I think season 3 will have lots of eps of them on New Caprica under Cylon rule, I don't think they'll all be going back into space right away.  The fleet left them there, and they have to regroup some how and get back to the planet, which is surrouned by Cylon ships, so they won't be able to do an escape in one or two episodes. 


Baltar is definitely going to get what he deserves.  Especially since everyone will find out that #6 knows him.  I loved how he was living decadently while everyone else was living in crappy tents.  Baltar's boozing it up, popping pills, and having threesomes while everyone else is living in the ghetto.  I suspect that when the fleet comes back, everyone will escape the planet and maybe he will be left behind w/ the Cylons. 


I think making Brother Cavil a Cylon wasn't necessarily a cop out.  The actor is going to be in several season 3 episodes, from what I've read.  Plus, he's a priest who doesn't believe in God, which shows that Cylon society is getting a bit messed up. I think he'll be interesting.   I want to know what happened to Sharon and the 2 Brother Cavils that were locked up in the brig!


What did you think of "fat" Apollo?  Apparently, it was really hard to make him up to look like he'd gained a few.  I was really surprised to see him like that. 


sephorablue, I think Apollo partially hates Kara because of what happened when he came to meet Anders and she was drunk.  I also suspect there will be some flashbacks in season 3 to show any important stuff that happened during the year we missed.  And yes, the pornstar mustache must go. 


I can't believe we have to wait till October!!

I'm sure Sharon is around somewhere, but I think Madame Airlock lived up to her name and spaced the other two. I loved that part when they were dragging in the Galactica Cavill, and he's all, "what is going on? I am not a cylon! I am not a--oh. OK. You got me."


I have to re-watch. I saw a mention somewhere that someone spotted a wedding ring on Dee? Can we say GROSS? And Helo is the new Gaeta! I love it! Also love Gaeta as Baltar's COS...

since Helo stayed on Galactica, i'm inclined to believe Sharon is still around too...though i guess he might have stayed anyway, it seems more likely that's why he's there


and re: the ring issue...i did rewatch cause i heard the same thing and you cannot actually see a ring, but you can clearly see Dee doing what looks like twisting a ring around with her thumb...no ring for Fat Lee though...but who knows...i'd imagine jewelry is a bit hard to come by.  but if they got married, i will seriously ticked. (although you'd also think that food wouldn't be so plentiful as to make Lee all fat, but maybe he just stopped working out and all the muscle went to flab...)


also...the more i think about it, the more i actually really like what they've done.  and it sounds like they are going to address how everyone got to where they are either with flashbacks or some exposition or something, so i'm calmer now. 


also...why is Leoben looking for Kara?  and what will happen with Sharon's baby?  do you think the cylons know where she is?  interested to see where they go with these threads...

I just rewatched the end for Dee's ring - still have it on my tivo. I never got a good look at it but she is definitely playing with a ring on her "ring finger" while he is on the phone with Kara.

Did you see the episode where they caught Leoben in the fleet?  Kara interrogated him, beat him up, dunked his head in a bucket almost until he drowned, and made fun of his Cylon God.  Then Roslin came in, called Kara off, and offered Leoben freedom if he gave her some info.  I forgot what he told her, but Roslin promptly tossed him out the airlock.  My guess is that he has a score to settle w/ Kara. 


Though I've read theories that it has something to do with whatever the doctor Cylon did to her in the episode where she went back to Caprica and got sent to "the Farm." 


I *really* hope that Dee is not wearing a ring.

I think this is it. Creepy Simon said something to her at the time, like she had a special destiny or somesuch--or maybe Leoben told her that? One of them did. And since Leoben seems like the philosophical Cylon, I think he probably wouldn't come after her to get revenge on her for torturing him. At the time that happened, he seemed willing to let her play with him--remember when he jumped up and nearly strangled her? I think if he'd wanted to kill her, he would have then. I am going to re-watch this weekend... may have more thoughts then!

I did read some seemingly half-baked theory that the cylons are going to choose select humans to continue their, ahem, breeding experiment and that this Leoben has been "assigned" to Kara.  although i also heard that the cylons really did steal her ovaries, so who the hell knows.


what i do know is that DH and I have already been suffering withdrawals.  what will we do till October!?

The sad thing here, kiddos, is that as of a month ago yesterday, DH and I were basically BSG virgins.  I gave hubby the first season DVDs for V-day and some nights we would watch like three or four episodes in a row.  We're not dorks or anything. 


We do still have lots of commentary and podcasts though...so I guess we'll work our way through those...


Oh...but if you see any grey sleeveless tees or black racer-um-front (?) tanks, let me know...I'm working on my Halloween costume.
