I have heard people mention that they make collages lately and am wondering how they do it and what they look like. i love this idea and would like to do something for my nursery but i don't want it to end up looking like something i did in high school (with the ubiquitous glamour magazine cutouts and phrases). i'd like to use song lyrics, black and white photos, paint or pastels and card stock maybe. any ideas? does anyone have any book recommendations on how to do this on a graphic designer level (if that makes sense)? tia!
I've never made a collage like that before, but I would go about it like I would scrapbooking.
First, I'd pick a few pictures you want to use. See if there's either a theme or a color scheme that is consistent throughout the pictures. '
Once you've decided on a what that theme/color is, then you'll want to pick out some background paper that will highlight those colors and some other pretty papers to use to kind of "frame" the pictures--you'd cut out those papers about 1/4" larger than the pictures and put behind the pictures so they stand out a little more.
Then you can start adding other textures, mementos, and other stuff.
Thanks NCS! I've actually just started scrapbooking a little, and I love it. I think that is what got me interested in collage. I just want to make it a little more artsy, hmm. i think i'll check out that software you recommended. we do have a cm consultant in our mom's group too, and i bought a few tools from her to get me started. thanks again for the help!
