Need help on outfit for weekend

Coming from someone who has never been to a funeral, I would think black pants and a nice sweater would be fine. Fashion for men tends to be black and white (casual or a suit), but women have all sorts of gray area.

Anything nice is fine, so long as it's black (although I've been to funerals where not everyone wears black).

I think what you are planning on wearing is fine. Sorry you even have the occasion to go.

What you plan on wearing is fine as long as it's conservative and respectful in my opinion. These days you need no only wear black as long as it's a dark color.

I am not really sure why I know a lot about this subject...but...

Dark colors of any kind are really appropriate now. And basic black pants with a sweater will be fine.

The most recent funeral I went to I wore a gray pantsuit. When my best friend's mother passed away and she wore a black sateen suit.

Thanks for the help girls! I appreciate it. I think I'm going with black pants and I'll have to go shopping for a black top. The sweater I had in mind has a deeper V on it than I prefer, and the last thing I want to look is inappropriate. Thanks again!
