fast beauty secrets?

Y'all, somehow I only have 15 minutes to get ready in the morning, not counting shower and teeth. Does anyone have any tips for speedy hair, self-tanner, nails, makeup and whatever else I'm supposed to be doing and can't because I do not have time?

For make-up, here's what I think are the most important and quickest things to do:

  • brush/groom your eyebrows

  • curl your eyelashes

  • dust on bronzer with a big fluffy brush

  • put on some tinted lip balm

yeah, i've minimized my getting ready routine alot since lately i just hate it so much -

as far as hair goes, if you take a shower in the morning, i hope you're a wash-and-go sort of girl.  i don't know what sort of hair you have but if it's prone to frizzies at all, everyone knows i swear by phytologie phytodefrisant.

anyway, i put on some tinted moisturizer - actually i'm using neutrogena stuff right now - it works GREAT and just makes my skin look so much better -

i use my finger to put concealer on under my eyes and on my eyelids (somehow just makes them look better, also good base for shado if you use it)

if i have a minute i'll dab on some concealer to red spots with a brush, but i often skip this unless there's a bad one -

put on some blush with a big brush

then i use an "eye tint" just one of those creamy eye shadow things that you can smear on your eyes and you're done - i'm also using a neutrogena one of these that's alright - not as great as the other stuff though.

if i have an extra 30 sec i'll use my sonia kashiuk angled brush in grey/brown/ or black eyeshadow and do the top lash line

then i just curl my eyelashes and do mascara and i'm running out the door!

oh wait - the tinted lipgloss also does wonders for making you look finished - again, i'm using a neutrogena one - it's red but very sheer.

if i don't have time for everything, i'll do the tinted moisturizer, blush, mascara and lipgloss.

for nails, well, my hands are never done, but there's a sally hanssen thing you can get or neutrogena (damn, what am i, working for them or something?) thing that's a tube and you brush this stuff onto your nails - it strengthens them and also makes them look a little shinier but no drying time like with polish.  (no chipping too)

this is something you could do while in class, waiting in line, on the train, whatever, b/c it doesn't smell.

If nothing else, put on some lipstick and hint of blush or bronzer. Most of the time, it's enough to get me through the day or at least until I can get a brake to really freshen up in the ladies room.

1.  put on primer, just slap it on. nars has one i like

2.  get the ysl touche eclat, just click and dab wherever you see a shadow, under eyes, side of nostrils, blemishes, whatever.  then quickly pat on foundation w/ fingers (i like nars balanced).

3.  curl eyelashes, put on a couple swipes of mascara (i like dior show or lancome definicils)

4.  take a Nars multiple, swipe some on your fingers, smush fingers together, smush onto cheeks, bridge of nose and forehead.

5.  swipe on lip gloss.

voila!

btw, this takes about 15 minutes but if i don't have that kind of time, i just slap on some moisturizer and swipe on some lip gloss, it's better than nothing!

If nothing else, I always curl my lashes and put on mascara and some blush.  For hair, I like braids or a quick messy bun.  Then at the end of the day you can take it out and your hair has pretty texture (or you can do it at night and take it out in the morning).

This is pretty much my routine too when I'm short on time, which I was this morning.

Curling your eyelashes and using some mascara helps open up your eyes, as does concealer and the touche eclat.  Nars Orgasm blush on my cheeks, bridge of my nose and temples helps add some color to my face and makes me look like I'm not dead.

I have about 5 minutes in the morning to put on makeup so I'm a pro at this.

5 minutes: Stila illuminating powder (can do all over face or just T-zone); Nars blush in Orgasm with big brush on apples of cheeks (if I'm using a bronzer I do the same but also add it to/sweep it over the bridge of my nose, my jawbones, and my forehead); curl lashes and put on Max Factor 2000 mascara; dot on creamy concealer if I need it; lipgloss or lipstick in the car or as I'm running out the door

7 minutes: all of the above but apply eyeshadow (kitten for lid, espresso for eyeliner - all Stila)

10 minutes: all of the above; let moisturizer set a bit more; use my Camoflogue concealer instead of the uber-creamy one from above; apply a bit more liner shadow, maybe do a bit of contouring, etc.; and usually take lots of care with my lipstick/lipgloss application.

I forgot about hair!

If my hair's recently clean and I can wear it down, I usually spritz some water and sea-salt spray in and scrunch like there's no tomorrow. It adds nice waves and gives it body throughout the day.

If my hair's nearing washing time (I wash twice a week), I pull the bangs back in a little poofy type thing, held with a comb, and pull the rest of my hair back in a pony or a bun. It sounds kinda funny but I hope you know what I mean. It looks cool and it's an interesting twist on the typical pony for work look. I'll also pull my bangs back with the comb (I have a mini-comb just perfect for bangs) and leave the rest of my hair down if I don't have time to make sure they sit right.

Nails: I like Solar Oil. I brush it on and rub it in. It takes a few minutes to absorb completely but you can do it in class even. Any excess I rub onto my hands. I makes your nails shiny and your cuticle area soft and not jagged.

I also keep a nail file near me all the time. That way if I have a couple seconds, I can grab it and file a nail or two at a time.
