Did anyone see her last night?  Is she okay?  She looked great and her voice was strong, but she was definitely shaking and had a really hard time with her lines.  Is she ill or do you think it was just stage fright?  Or is she just getting old?  Just curious if anyone else noticed.  I think she's so fabulous, but last night caught me by surprise.

I was so sad to see her like that. I couldn't even watch it, I felt so bad for her. My guess is that it's just old age and she's not as quick on her toes. One of my favorite old movies is How To Marry a Millionaire, and she was such a firecracker in that, it makes me sad to see her now.

I was wondering if maybe she couldn't see the teleprompter, so she was trying to give her lines based on memory?  It seemed she stumbled in the beginning, but the speech went smoother at the end.

Yeah, I noticed it too. She was stumbling with her lines -- like she didn't have them memorized ahead of time and was just reading them off the teleprompter. It really seemed like she had never seen those words together before.

She looks so great -- it made me sad to hear her stumble like that, esp. when they showed old movie clips and she was all tough and sharp when she was younger.

I don't think she could see the teleprompter thus she stumbled on her words.  I felt so bad for her!

I felt really sad watching her that way. Her head seemed to be shaking a bit too, which made me wonder if she has Parkinson's. She re-released her autobiography last year. I read it, and it didn't mention her getting sick or anything (at least not that I recall) and she seemed totally in command of herself when she was on TV promoting the book. I hope it was just nerves.

i heard she had a vocal disorder from prolonged use of a low voice...but there seems to be some confusion as to whether she actually has it, or is only associated with the disorder because it's nicknamed for her (google Bogart-Bacall Syndrome)

Spasmodic dysphonia involves difficulty speaking because of repetitive or continuous contraction (dystonia) of the muscles that control the vocal cords.

???

either way, it was very sad to see.

Well, she's almost 82, so it might just be age.
