while i like all the shorts you posted, especially number one, i can't see that the cost per wear on any of them would really be worth it. how often would you plan on wearing them? perhaps check out forever 21 or other places like that first, i know ive seen shorts like the ones you posted on their website before. granted, the f21's won't be nice, but how long is this "trend" gonna last and how much wear will you get out of them anyway?

good point relrel. in terms of a style, which shorts do you think i should try "look for less"? the brown, pink or green? or some other color?
ehhh...the brown ones are the most versatile, but those green ones are a really pretty shade. i would just keep your eye out and there is bound to be something to catch your eye.

I like the first Johnson ones but they're all really cute.
I saw these MJ ones in the Saks catalog and I LOVE them (they look cuter in the print version). And at $148 they're quite a bit cheaper than the ones you posted.
I like the idea of short shorts this summer, but I echo the others who said cost per wear won't be that good on $200+ pairs unless one's lifestyle lends itself to it, which I know for me does not hold true. I'm probably going to get something <$100. As far as your choices, I really like #1. However, the Marc ones someone posted are really cute too. And those come with a more acceptable price tag too :)

wow everyone has posted some really great options! i love johnson shorts but really can't see how the price is justified... i also don't understand wool shorts? but anyway, i think the urbn ones are a pretty good match to #1. i love the style of #1 and think it would with a lot of looks.with the marc ones or any other that are boxier/more paper bag-y in style.. i would just be worried about overwhelming your super petite frame with too much fabric.
i think shorts are going to be all over the place. wait until may or so and i'm sure they will be in the stores.. like express, zara, club monaco, etc... so just offering a middle/low range alternative to f21 (even though i think honey has a pair from f21 that she loves..)
I love the first two Johnson pairs. The thing is that I've seen the shorts so much IRL (boutique near my apt. carries them) and I still visit the slightly longer and perfect Gertrudes, but the price is ridiculous for the trendiy factor and the quality issue. I'd say the shorts should retail at $100-120.
I really think you should go a bit cheaper because it's something that you might be able to wear three out of seven days of the week at the most.
I went looking for shorts too about three weeks ago at the Beverly Center and only found cheaper versions at Rampage for $40-70 (cute, decent quality but the fit was horrible for me...probably would look great on you), Wet Seal (super cheap, bad quality but cute...I got a pair for $15), Image ($30ish, same problem with the fit as Rampage), and F21 where I bought one v. similar to this one for $20.
I also have noticed that Bebe has started carrying a lot more shorts. They're really cute and I would have gotten them instead of super-cheaping out but I can't swing $80 for anything I can't attempt to wear to work.
