ebay tips?
Permalink Closed

So I want to start buying more fun, unique stuff from eBay.  How do you all find such great ebay stuff?  What are some good sellers?   I really love Smash's vintage floral top that she recently got and I'd love to find something similar, but I just feel kinda stupid when it comes to searching on ebay.  Any tips?

You must've read my mind!  I thought the exact same thing after seeing smash's vintage top.  I've tried searching under the 'vintage' category and just entering all sorts of item descriptions...I think the key is to just keep digging and digging until an item or seller pops up.  If I see an item that catches my eye...I look at the seller's other listed items of course...but I'll look at what/who their customers purchased from too cause I figure maybe their past purchases can lead me to other good sellers in the same category.  But I'm a novice too...so...anyone else with some pointers?

the best tip i have is to sign up for auction sniper (www.auctionsniper.com) or some similar sniping site. it's really cheap, and saves so much  time b/c you don't have to stalk auctions waiting for the last possible minute to place a bid. also i like the fact that it saves me from getting caught up in auction fever wherein i pay way more than i want for some item just b/c i'm caught up in the moment.

i use the search function a lot. i type in my favorite brands and let ebay search for them for me. this works well for me b/c i'm a piece specific shopper so i can find stuff that i want and didn't buy.

i don't buy a lot of vintage stuff on ebay, but the browse function is really good. it lets you search through decade & category so you can find fun stuff. alternatively you can just type in something  like "floral top + vintage" and lots of stuff should pop up. if you find a vintage seller you like, it helps to save them into your searches, so you can browse their stuff. i don't have any saved, so i can't offer any tips on sellers.

You really have to do a lot of browsing to find some good stuff.  Some people are a little retarded in their listings, for example they could be selling a really fabulous designer NWT top, when all they put in the description is "shirt"!  When I do a search I put XS, 0, etc. for my size, so people who don't put sizes in their description get missed bids.  I always try to fit color, size, brand, what kind of style, if it's new I put NWT, and item it is in the title.

Anyways, I'm not sure if you have bought things on Ebay before, but I always make sure what shipping and handling charges are before bidding, if they have bad feedback, are they just registered, etc.
