I am the stereotypical first child, and I usually get along better with other first children. My husband is a first child as well.


Set Goals, High achievers, Confident, Born Leader, Perfectionist, Responsible, Organized, Abide by the Rules, Determined, Detail Oriented, Center of attention, Feels they are always right, Controlling, feel supieror to other siblings, May feel unloved or rejected when second sibling comes along, Tries to gain attention through conformity, will misbehave if still rejected, Strives to Please and protect others, Intense and high maintenance, feel pressure to succeed from parents and self, Often told they are the role model for younger siblings, Sometimes substitute parent for younger siblings, May feel resentment if they think the younger siblings get off easy and less is expected of the.

Second Child



 


Always trying to catch up to older sibling, develops the opposite personality traits than the first to be different, May be a rebel.


Hmmmm......maybe when he and I were younger, I'd try to catch up to him, I know I did w/the age, we'd stay the same age for a month and 9 days, he HATED IT! LOL We use to be alike, then we grew apart, so now we are totally opposite. I'm not quite a rebel, but I can be. LOL

So what if your twins?  I was technically first but being the onl child only lasted 11 minutes!  I must say I have plenty of the first born traits.

I am technically a middle, buy my older bro is a decent amount older that me so I have more of the first born characteristics, and a few of the middle. We did something like this in a class and it was really cool. We had way more variables and it was even closer, like if syblings were a certian amount older then there is a different dynamic, the same for younger etc. I love this kind of stuff.

I'm the youngest of 6 and some of these charateristics apply to me;


Last Born Characteristics


Risk takers, Outgoing, Idea people, Creative, Sense of Humor, Feels everyone is more competent, Expects others to do things for them, Feels small and weaker, May not be taken seriously in the family, Gets their own way, Competitive, If younger of three allies with oldest against middle, May be jealous of privileges older children have, May push older kids buttons by manipulation, Often the class clown


I rarely ever get my own way, not really competitive with my siblings, never feel smaller or weaker but I do have a sense of humor, am outgoing and inventive/idea person, take risks.


I can manipulate my siblings to do what I want, and I can be bitchy with my brothers, I can't with my sister or is second eldest... But I hate her anyway!
