boots in spring
Permalink Closed

ok, this is something i've always had a tough time with. for some reason, i only tend to wear boots in the fall and winter. i will wear my frye style boots every so often, but not very often at all. i'm wondering, do most people keep wearing their boots year round or do they often sit in the closet during the warmer months?

part of the reason i'm wondering this is that the semi-insane fashion elf who every now and then convinces me that i love really odd things has her eye on these boots and has a few outfit ideas that could work for spring. but i just don't know.

so i guess this is kind of a two-part question/informal poll --

a) do you wear boots in the spring/summer and if so, are they different than the ones you wear in the fall/winter?

and b) have i really lost my mind to want these green boots?

they can be worn up or slouched down. the red ones show them a bit slouchier -

i'm torn on this. mainly it's for practical reasons. i feel like summer is so short, i want to wear my open toe shoes as much as possible.  that being said, my fryes stay in my closet all year round, so it's not like i'm totally opposed to the idea, i just never get around to it.

i think they could work. or maybe i'm just trying to sell myself on this too, since there's this amazing pair of loeffler randall boots that i want for spring.

i would love to see your outfit ideas...i think they'd be really inspiring.

I occasionally wear my boots in the spring but I pretty much retire them by the
time we get into the warmer months of the year...but not because of fashion
but because it's just too da$n hot to walk around with boots..

I just got these boots

pretty much every outfit I have planned around them involves a full skirt or denim skirt of some sort. So I'm looking forward to them for my spring outfits

regarding the boots you posted...I'm not really liking those at all, to be honest, I think the combo of the heel, the way the toe is rounded and the bright color completely throws it off. JMO

I plan to wear my boots as much as a I can from March - into April.  I would love to wear them year-round, but like ayo, I just get too hot when the weather warms up.

I think you could rock the green boots - I think they are really cute!

ayo, what/where are those button boots? they are awesome!

smash--i only ever wear boots in the winter/fall.  i just feel silly any other time, partly because i think it looks dumb in LA (too hot) and i don't want to be like those girls who wear uggs with a miniskirt in august here (there are lots of them).

I don't generally wear boots in the spring and summer b/c I have always lived in places with hot summers unless it happens to be unseasonably cool out, but even then I would go with a spring-ey color (like my blue suede MJs).  I think those boots are spring-ey enough that you could definitely wear them with a lightweight skirt on cooler days.

I plan on wearing my pale pink BCBG boots this spring but not in the summer (too hot).

I'm not sure how I feel about those green boots.  I'd have to see them on.  I do know that if anyone could rock them, it would be you

I'll still do boots in the spring, but never summer.  With the humidity being very high here on TOP of the actual temps, summer here is just too warm to wear much beyond sandals as shoes.  Oh, I'm in Iowa

I don't really separate out my boots according to season either; I just wear them whenever I want..

I only wear boots in fall/winter. In spring (which for us usually starts sometime in April), they start to look too heavy (IMO) with lighter spring clothes, plus it gets too warm for me once the weather heats up. I like boots with heavier items, like cashmere sweaters and wool pants / skirts, though I do occasionally wear them with lighter weight items, but they just look wrong to me in warmer months.

I'm kind of not feeling those boots, BTW...sorry.

I don't wear boots in the summer (too warm in Cali), but depending on what the temperature is I will wear them into spring. It really just depends on the weather.

As for the green boots, as the other girls have said, I could see you rocking them. They're personally not my taste though.

Funny you say that Bumblebee, because it wasn't until I moved to LA that I felt fine with rocking my boots year round:)  I think with the LA weather you miss out on wearing certain items so people have some bizarre clothing tendencies.  When we first moved there, it was so weird to see people wearing wool coats at night when it was 62 degrees!

I stick with boots in distressed browns or creams for the summer though.  I would have to see the boots on you I think Smash.  I love color though, and with the flat sole I bet you could work them.

I feel stupid in non-Frye/cowboy boots when it's over 75 degrees out UNLESS I'm in NYC because walking the streets requires a durably soled shoe. We do have bizarre clothing tnedencies in LA though...with our Ugg and miniskirt brigade, plus the people who have to milk their wool coat purchases in 65 degree weather.

That said, I really can't get into those boots...they feel too "worst of the 80s" to me.
