What do you wear to a play?

what city do you live in? normally i dress up to go to the theater, but it depends on the circumstances--like i would just wear pants if it was a college play or something, and i'd wear a nice skirt or something dressier to go to a broadway show.

I live in Houston and it's not a college play. It's a professional play.

i think i'd dress up, then--nothing too over the top or formal, but maybe like what you would wear if you were going to a nice family dinner at a restaurant. maybe a nice skirt with sweater and boots, or a simple dress.

either way- college play, broadway show, community theatre- i always wear something that i would wear to work or church. skirt or dress pants, sweater or tank/cardi, heels... you get the idea!

Ooh which play are you going to see? I saw Wicked in November at the Alley theatre and people wore all sorts of things from nice dresses and suits to unfortunately shorts and tshirts. I wore a skirt and a cute top (church attire) and I felt like I was dressed appropriately. I'm supposed to see the dress rehersal for Beauty and the Beast on March 13th if I can leave work early. I am so excited.

I wanted to see Pillowman, but that one is over already. I heard good things about it. I'm going to see Journey's End.

I have to see two plays before the semester is over. (It's required for my intro to theatre class.)
