I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but I wanted to post this news. Here's part of press release.

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 27, 2006--
Leading online retailer Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) today announced it has acquired Shopbop.com (www.shopbop.com), a retailer of fashion-forward apparel, shoes and accessories for women. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Shopbop.com is located in Madison, Wisconsin, and features products from more than 75 leading designers including Marc Jacobs, Juicy Couture and True Religion. Founded in 1999 as a single brick-and-mortar store, the Shopbop.com site sells a wide array of apparel, accessories and shoes to consumers around the world, and is a popular destination for fashion-savvy consumers.
Shopbop.com will continue to operate as a stand-alone site and will be run as a complement to Amazon's existing Apparel & Accessories Store (www.amazon.com/apparel). All aspects of Shopbop.com's customer experience will remain intact and their operations will remain in Madison.
wow, thanks for posting. this is going to sound incredibly stupid, but when amazon has free shipping, can you go through amazon to purchase things from shopbop with free shipping? does that make sense? i don't know how that stuff works (obviously). thanks.

I'm bittersweet about this. What's going to happen to Bop (the brick & mortar)? I hope that stays the same. I haven't been there in a while but it's always a must-stop when visiting Madison.
Also, they have such good coupon codes. Will this be the end of that?

that's what I was thinking too. Plus, Amazon super saver shipping sucks! It takes forever and they've screwed up my brother's orders many times. I've only been to the B&M once. I was surprised how small it was, since shopbop.com has tons of stuff. I hope the coupon codes don't change either.

I wonder about the codes too.
I'll probably have to pay sales tax when ordering from Shopbon now. I usually don't when ordering from Shopbop, but I do pay sales tax for amazon orders because amazon is located here in WA.
I admit I'm a bit skeptical. I don't find Amazons CS to be all the stellar. It seems like when a larger corporation buys a small company, they ALWAYS say that nothing is going to change, and inevitably it does. It's the nature of business. I guess we will see what happens.

I don't think so...I just ordered from a vet supply company through Amazon, and a little box came up saying that since it's an outside company, their Super Saver Shipping didn't apply.
