I think this incident alone is not enough to tell.

But I was totally in love with my best friend last year and despite him saying things like, "I'm really glad we're friends, I feel like were so compatable and always on the same page," he just wasn't that into me romantically. And now I think he's gay, but that's another story.

So anyway, I can't tell from your story.

he might have felt awkward suggesting it, and you missed an opportunity not suggesting it. if he didn't like you, he wouldn't be having a "couples" dinner with you... do you still have the movie, and can you call him and ask him if he wants to come over and watch it? if you don't actually still have it, say you do, and go run out and get it if he wants to watch it with you.

Ditto--this is exactly what I was thinking.  It probably would have been a little awkward if he had suggested staying, and he may have even thought it would be presumptive or aggressive to do so.  I'd invite him over to watch the movie and see how things go from there.  It'll be easier to tell when the two of you are alone versus being with another couple.

Whatever happened with this? I didn't know what to think either, so I didn't comment, but tell us how it turns out...
