What kind of shorts are "in" this summer?

I haven't noticed any magazine spreads on shorts, for the most part.  So, other than Bermudas, what styles/colors of shorts are going to be hot?  Or what is too dated to wear this year?  I need to buy some shorts but need guidance first!

From my view on the magazines I would say that with shorts- the styles run the gamut- from the very short- to the very long- skinny- to slouchy. I have seen all represented. I think you are free to choose what you like and what looks good on you. Examples:

i've seen a lot of this length- cut offs, slouchy, boy shorts, almost anything:



Also, I think slouchier mid length shorts are going to be a slight update on the cuffed short Johnsons that all the starlets had last summer.  They will def. still be around though.  I also think denim shorts, cut offs, slouchy, anything, will be big, as always.  there is a SUPER cute frostfrench denim pair in Bazaar, but they are around $160


I can't find a good example of what i mean, maybe something like this:
