I bought the second pair this past weekend in black. They are pretty comfortable. The braided material did not bother me at all. The other colors they come in are gold, black, and brown. I thought I really wanted the gold but the black actually looked better on me and I already have another pair of gold wedges.

I didn't try on the first pair you posted but I looked at them. The heel isn't as tall as the pair I bought and they seemed MUCH heavier/chunkier so I passed.

Here's a pic of the espadrille wedges in brown. I think that would be the most versatile color, for me at least. I haven't tried them on, though.

Thanks ladies. I think the main reason I'm drawn to the first pair is I like how they look with cropped pants as well as longer pants.

I like the idea or something that gives me height as well as being comfortable.

If you're looking for height, these will do it, they are probably 3-3.5 inches tall. They are very comfortable to me - the straps are soft leather and I don't think they'll dig. I am planning on wearing mine w/jeans, cropped pant, and skirts - I've tried them on w/all three and they look great!
