Purse Dilemma

I've lurked, but never posted here.

Many of you ladies give good advice, so I was hoping one of you may be able to help me.

I bought a purse off of Ebay recently that I was very excited about. However, when I received it in person, I was very disappointed with it. The leather of the bag is distressed, but one whole side of the bag is way more distressed than the other. The bag looks mismatched, and overall ridiculous. I understand the concept of distressed leather, but I feel this bag is majorly flawed. I compared it to the same bag from sold at Anthro, and while the Anthro bag also looks distressed, the leather is still uniform throughout the bag.

I don't feel that the bag was accurately depicted in the Ebay description or the photos. I contacted the seller, who refused to refund my money. I filed a claim with Paypal, but they are requesting documentation from a "expert" third party about the condition of the bag, that it is flawed, etc.

My questions are:

What kind of a third party would I consult? The maker of the bag only has a store in NY, so that's out of the question. I can't really think of a person or business who would willingly get involved with a claim like this. Also, I would probably have to pay someone to do this, which I don't want to do. Is this all worth it?

Would it be unreasonable to contact the maker of the bag in NY asking for an exchange, even though I didn't personally buy the bag there?

Thanks in advance for your help. Sorry this was so long.

Hmm not sure how you paid but anytime I have an issue I challenge it through my credit card company and it gets resolved pretty quickly that way.  You could try that route.

How did you pay for it? If you paid through paypal, you can file a claim through both ebay & paypal. Are they a "power seller"? I've filed claims through ebay, square trade & paypal twice & got my money back, but in both instances I never received my items.

Here is the help info I found on ebay's site - I often go to "help" there & search any topic I'm not sure about. If you feel it was significantly misrepresented & can show that through photos, you may have a case. If you can see the material difference in the photos they presented you are probably out of luck. It's worth a shot. My DH bought me a tee as a gift & when we got it there were stains all over it that you couldn't see in the pixs. The seller claimed we must have stained it, but we stayed on top of it & I guess she was getting enough pressure that she finally refunded our money (only $7 but her attitude really pissed of my DH so he wouldn't let it go). Just know that this is a long process & you have to be persistent & stay on top of it, but if you paid enough, it's definatley worth it.

HTH some

If it's from Anthro, you go right to Anthro and have a manager sign a letter stating that the bag is not in the condition Anthro would sell it, therefore making it a flawed item, and inaccurately depicted.  You can also go through your CC company, which I have done with ease in the past.

PS.  Bring the letter to Anthro to be signed; don't expect them to write a letter for you, but do have them sign their name, associate number, and give store location.

I usually don't bother.  About a few weeks ago I bought supposedly new shoes and when I got them they looked like they were worn a night out to town.  I was pissed and would have said something about it but they live in my state and know where I live!
