ok all, remember when rachel bilson was on the cover of lucky and in the spread inside she wore a skirt as a dress and totally rocked it?  well, i tried it w/ the green tulip skirt that's st's pick of the week w/ my new shoes and i think it works but i feel like now i need some type of accessory at the neckline.  sigh, i need to get a digicam so i can show you guys a pic of me in it.  maybe i can borrow one this weekend...stay tuned!

but for the moment imagine as best you can:

this skirt as a dress:

are you serious? you could wear ANYTHING with those shoes & it would look great.

I'd wear maybe a thin necklace if any - i wouldn't want to take attention away from those shoes.

first: that would make it strapless, right?

second: how short is that "dress" then?

i think with a strapless little dress it would look really pretty with a choker. perhaps something like this...

tangled web necklaceor griet bauble necklace

with this sweater for your chilly shouldersrue mouffetard cardigan

it might be a little eightes but what about a simple ribbon, in a color that picks up something from the shoes?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Graduated Hammered Necklace

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

a whole bunch of beaded necklaces in different shades of green that fall around chest level?

yeah I think you need an accessory to...

because the shoes (which are fabulous by the way ) definitely out shine the skirt...

What sort of belt are you planning to wear with it? If I recall correctly she did use a belt.

don't worry, it's only a couple of inches above the knee.

I think it would totally work.  I think you need an accessory too.  Either a belt or a longer necklace something like this.  Or you could layer a couple of gold necklaces with some charms on them.

you're right, she did, it was a cool rope type belt i think, to accentuate her waist.

i don't know if a belt would go, the skirt/dress on me looks a bit like this:

carrie on the left.

I think it will be cute, but you need something to keep it from looking maternity.  When SJP wore that dress she was pregnant and definitely looked it in my opinion.  I think either a belt/ribbon or a cardigan/shawl will help it not give you the pregnant look (which this dress/skirt might not do that to begin with).

i think a belt might interrupt the flow of the dress.

mckenke, FABULOUS necklace, thank you.

heatherlynn, you're totally right, she was pregnant back then.  and the skirt/dress pretty much hides my figure as well, but i dunno maybe that's ok since i want the focal point to be the shoes?

argh, i need a digicam!

I concur, with all of these statements.

great outfit. i would definitely put a belt with it. when i do the skirt as dress, i almost always wear a belt since the look (if worn incorrectly) can make you look frumpy & shapeless. my gut instinct would be to go with something on the thin side. like this

3/16" RAYON TWIST CORD (it's actually drapery cord) and maybe wrap it around twice... i think it would give you shape, but not overpower the look.

LOVE the look already!  I agree those shoes would look hot with anything!  Like Honey's suggestion of the rope cord belt!

what a cool idea for that skirt! it might even be cute over jeans like that too - I'll have to play with it when I get mine (I ordered the whole outfit!)  I'm liking the idea of thin gold chains - they would complement the outfit, but not compete with it.

LOVE the shoes BTW - so glad you took the plunge and bought them!
