Pet health insurance?

Does anyone have this or have any thoughts on it? I am such a clueless new pet owner!!! Any insight would be much appreciated.

I had it. Never used it. It ended up being a waste of money. That said, if my pet ever had injuries or illnesses, it would have come in handy. I suppose it's a toss-up. I guess I'd put pen to paper and see what it would end up costing me in the long run.

Oh wait. I think all the kitty shots were paid for through the insurance thing though. I can't remember though.

after one of my cats got cancer, i looked into several plans. basically the coverage on most of them is very poor. they don't cover for surgeries and operations and basically only take care of one well visit a year.

if you want to make sure you have money for a rainy doggie/kittie day down the line, it would be more benefitial to save $30 a month than to give that away to insurance.

Agreed.

The insurance they provide has many MANY exceptions.. Chances are if your pet gets sick, you are going to have to pay out-of-pocket anyway. I think it is a waste of money.

I agree with the others. It's better to just put away some money into a savings account each month for use in case something ever happens. Hopefully you won't ever have to use it, but it'll be there if you need it and you won't have to worry over whether the insurance will pay for this or that.

Thanks all! I just created a new Ing acct. w/ a Lola fund in case of emergencies. This seems like a better move!
