What are you craving most? I am thinking constantly of pizza, and is driving me insane. This would be a major no-no for the scale, so I am fighting it!!

Why not make a low fat pizza?  My favorite is to take a Bobbilli (sp?) or homemade crust, slather it w/ low fat ricotta cheese, add some grilled chicken, some thawed frozen spinach, basil, and low fat mozzerella.  Then I bake it in the oven on 350 for 15 min. or so.  It's good and it's not terribly bad for you.

Yes! I will do this- it sounds really good- I dont think I will be happy until I satify this craving- so, this sounds like a good alternative- thank you...

you can do english muffin pizzas on light muffins too. Or, if you dont mind a little work, you can make your own whole wheat dough that isn't very unhealthy and then do ff or lf cheese...

We had pizza last night - can't you work it into your plan? I find that if I get a different kind of pizza than the kind that I REALLY love ( i love all meat, but order just cheese) that I can limit it down to a slice or 2 & end my craving. A Pizza Hut medium cheese is 4.5 pts per slice. Not too bad. And Peperoni is only 5 pts. Meat lovers is 6. But if I get "my" kind I want to eat the whole thing, can't limit it down - I just know myself. But see, not as bad as you think.

I have also been doing pita pizzas, wheat pita, pizza sauce, turkey pep, 2% moz cheese - it's about 5 or 6 pts.

What I really want ???? A chili cheese burrito & a great big hamburger with all the terrible cheese & mayo....yum....

I had digorno harvest wheat, thin crust pizza last night and it was good and not terrible for you.

If you're craving a burger, why not have a turkey burger, with lowfat mayo and whatever else you like on it.

French fries always get me from McDonald's.  I treat myself every now and then but mostly stay clear of this place.

I hear ya, but it's just not the same as a big ole "real" burger with all the drippy stuff on it...I have been doing just what you said & it's ok, but not doing it for the craving!

I was actually just reading an article about this very topic!  Basically, it said that many people fall into the 'craving trap' when they're dieting - and in trying to resist the said craving, the reach for other items to replace it and end up over eating the replacement item, and are still left with the craving.  Everything in moderation, you know .

Laken - I make my own bean burritos at home, which are suprisingly satisfying!  I use fat free refried beans and low fat tortillas - I melt just a little bit of shredded cheese on the tortilla and then fill it up with the beans, some hot sauce, FF sour cream, and some cilantro.  You can put some chicken breast in there too.  And because the beans are so creamy, you hardly notice that the cheese is minimal.

For burgers, we get the leanest ground beef or turkey we can find and form it into our own burgers.  I dice up garlic, onion, and mushrooms very finely and mix it in with the meat - it provides the moisture that low-fat meat often lacks.  Wheat buns, so reduced fat cheese, FF mayo, all the fixins', and you're golden!  I find that the more veggies I pile on my burgers the less I miss the cheese - I like to do lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion, and avacado .

for burgers, I like to grate some zuchinni and mix it with the beef. Adds moisture and stretches the meat (so that a 1/4 lber is actually satisfying) but you hardly notice it!

I would have never thought of that!  What a great idea!

Also, Laken and Elle, I do a similar bean and cheese burrito, but I use canned black beans.  In fact, we always keep black beans in the pantry because they're so useful.

One of my favorite recipes?  Chicken w/ homemade salsa.  I just grill two chicken breasts and then make the salsa w/ a can of black beans, a can of chopped tomatoes, a can of corn, lime juice, cilantro, salt and pepper.  It's so great.

I think lime and cilantro make anything way better.

I've had a hard time w/ sweet cravings.  I bought dried apricots and those seem to take care of it.  They're sweet, small, and they have enough texture and "bite" to them that I find them really satisfying.  These are great for me, especially at work when my first inclination is to run downstairs to the pharmacy in my building and get a big bag of Rolo bites or something like that.

My new favorite, somewhat healthy pizza fix are the South Beach Diet frozen pizzas. They're in the grocery store with the regular frozen pizza. They are amazinly good--- the pepporoni is the best. The have a whole wheat crust that is great and the sauce isn't funky like some other diet frozen pizzas. One has 350 calories and pair it with a salad and that's a pretty good lunch.
