Tips for Buying Designer Jeans
Permalink Closed

I'm really having a hard time finding decent jeans lately, and I'm thinking about buying a pair of designer jeans for the first time. My problem is that it's hard for me to justify spending over $100 on jeans, especially since I don't know if they are better than jeans I can buy at the mall. But I need new jeans really bad, and I haven't had any luck finding any good pairs under $100. Can you guys give me some tips on buying designer jeans? Is it a good investment? Which styles/washes would be the most versitle, and which styles could I wear years from now?

I can tell you what I'm looking for in a pair of jeans: no rips or holes. Flat back pockets because I have a round booty. I'm looking for a dark wash and a lighter wash for casual days.
Here's a pair I found at Trina Turk that I love! Do you think the wash and style is versitle enough that I can justify this being a good buy at $168? TIA!

I love my COH Ingrid Stretch...I didn't want to spend that much on jeans either so it took me a long time to fork out the dough.  My first pair of designer jeans I bought at Saks Off Fifth..they were Juicy destroyed denim...I only paid $40 for them but I fell in love.  I then invested in my COH jeans.  I don't think I could ever go back to regular jeans.  They can look dressy and classy but they also go with my sweatshirts.  I love the way they fit and mine hold up great.  My only suggestion is to try a whole bunch of styles on.  Keep in mind that they do stretch out...You might want to go one size down.  In the Ingrids I have the Pacific and Colorado Washes.  HTH a little.

can you describe your body type a little bit?  tall or not so tall, short or long torso, waist to hip ratio, that type of thing?

from what you've described so far, i'd try the rock & republic scorpions in the kerosene wash.

as for the price, they do go on sale (i recently just saw a COH pair on shopbop that were only $40) so just be vigilant and you may get lucky.

hth and good luck!

I'm 5'6, long limbed, pretty thin, but I do have hips and a butt. Jeans always fit my hips and butt, but not my waist. I also have a long torso. Thanks for the tips about sales...I'll keep my eyes peeled.

try sevens, hudsons and maybe joe's?

also, both neiman marcus's first and last call sales are awesome, they occur twice a year.

I would suggest you check out COH stretch.  They fit me very well and I'm a curvy girl.  There are some styles you can get for a little more than $100 and if your really lucky you can find them on sale for under.  Watch the shopbop site for sales and codes.

also, since you're trying to keep prices low, revolveclothing has a code for 30% off if you're a first-time customer, so most $150ish jeans will be around $100. COH was my suggestion too -- maybe Ingrid?

edit: duh, here's the link to the code: http://www.revolveclothing.com/indexDC2.jsp?source=dcev1

I love my Seven Bootcuts in the New York Dark Wash.  they fit me real well and I have hips.  They run about $132 and I get them at Macy's who always have coupons so you might want to check into that.  I also signed up for mypoints (pm me if you want more info) and I earn points towards $50 coupons at macy's and bloomingdales which can be used for jeans so you aren't spending that much

I have to agree with Seven, COH, and Hudson. Rock and Republic would also be hearbreakingly awesome looking on you since you sound like you have long legs. True Religion Bobbys are also worth a shot, but they are fairly low-rise so I don't know how you'd feel about that.
