If I had a good voice, I'd want to sing "Don't Stop Believin'" at some point on the show. For a tryout, maybe "On My Own" from Les Miserables? I don't watch the show so I'm not sure what kind of choices people make for the tryout.

Oooh good question. I have two because they serve different purposes.

Borderline by Madonna and Hurt by Johnny Cash (I know it's a NIN song, but I love Johnny's version.)

Runners up include any other Johnny Cash, Trouble by Cat Stevens, Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain by Willie Nelson, and any Kylie Minogue.

Assuming I actually COULD sing, I would sing something by Alison Krauss.  Maybe "A Living Prayer," "Crazy as Me," or "Restless."

I'd sing Nobody Does it Better by Carly Simon or 9 to 5 by Dolly Parton.  If I were a guy, my winning song would be A Song for You by Donny Hathaway.

Oooh i would sing Bobby McGee by Janis Joplin because I have that gravly rough tone to my voice!

one of my karaoke specialties: Led Zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love, Annie Lennox's Sweet Dreams, or Janis Joplin's Mercedes Benz

Ohh I love "A Song for You" by Donny Hathaway.  Did you see Christina Aguillera sing it on the Grammy's this week?

I think I would sing, "If Loving you is Wrong I Don't Wanna Be Right" but I'm not sure it's by.

I didn't see that.  Was it good?  I just think it is one of the most beautiful songs ever written.  Alvin Ailey ballet company has a scene where one male dances to this song--it is perfection.

I'm not quite sure, but lots of times I hear songs and think what a great song it would be to sing on that show!

"There Is No Arizona" by Jamie O'Neal or "Turn Me On" by Norah Jones... then Simon would tell me he's not interested in a blues singer.

i have a huge list of songs that i would sing.  i will narrow it down a bit thoughfor you.

somewhere by barbara streisand, because it is an incredibly difficult song to sing and if i had a decent voice, i think it would impress the judges.

piece of my heart by janis joplin

bathwater by no doubt

the truth about me by dance hall crashers, that song totaly describes simon so i would have to sing it for him.  the corus goes "hey, i like to hear my self talk, i'm my own favorite audience, cause i'm the funniest person i know, if you were me i'm sure you'd agree..."

stand by by the dance hall crashers

redneck woman by gretchen wilson

Ah! One of my choices - Mercedes Benz by Janis Joplin. That's sooo my theme song. But then I met a boy. And he drove a Mercedes. And (hopefully) we'll live happily ever after.

My karaoke specialities are: 9 to 5 by Madonna and Not Yet A Woman by Brit. Oh yes. But if I had to choose, I'd sing Cradle and All by Ani Difranco.

Or I suppose I could go with my high school musical audtion songs, my favorite being King of New York from Newsies. (I kid you not. Hugely popular in high school? I think so. )
