Fake bulga from Testimo?!
Permalink Closed

So I sold my coral bulga I bought from Testimo (testimoboutique.com) on ebay amd the buyer just emailed me to say she's positive, compared to her other bulgas, that it is fake. She doesn't even think the leather is real. I thought it seemed very soft and spongy, but figured it was just specially treated to be that way. And it smells like leather. Anyway, she is detailing for me the reasons why she thinks it is fake (I am awaiting her response), but how embarrassing - both that I *thought* it was real (sort of still do...) and that I inadvertently sold a fake if that is true. I don't have any others and so I have no basis for comparison.

Did anyone else buy a bulga from Testimo, and are you sure it's real? What would tip you off a bag was fake? Ugh - this is so unpleasant. I am just going to refund her to avoid any ugliness, but how do I know if it's real or fake? Do you guys think Testimo would sell faux?

i would be interested in seeing what she has to say.

i bought the same bag you ebayed from testimo as well.

when i got it, i was slightly dissapointed in the quality- but loved the overall style of the bag that i kept it.  and also kept quiet on the quality.

last week, the strap broke.  it was glued (!) not sewn on.  i didn't realize until after it broke.  and this is not a bag i carried a lot.  due to the color, it was rotated quite often.

please post or PM me when she comes back with why she thinks it is fake.

bex - Will do. (The strap was glued?!)

Yeah, I just don't know. I checked the bulga web site, and testimo is listed as a seller (look at online stores) of their bags:

http://bulgausa.com/ - click on "stores" and "online stores"

So unless they're pulling something really sketchy, I just don't get it. I wish I could find my receipt! Anyway, I'll PM you when she contacts me.

does testimo also sell fakes? maybe there was a screwup at the factory or something. after seeing the differences of quality at different factories- i wouldn't be surprised if one batch was done really shoddilly because they were in a rush or something. I'd contact both bulga and testimo over this.

lynnie, I am also wondering if the quality of bulga has changed as it has gotten more popular. When we were all buying ours a year ago, they were pretty new. Maybe they weren't as well-made then or something, or as you suggest it's a different factory...

I don't know - I am still waiting to see what the buyer says and I do think I'll get in touch with both bulga and testimo.

If you don't have your receipt, can you check your credit card transaction?  I have a friend who lost a receipt and checked under her credit card, and it was fine.

Yeah. I can check my cc. I just wish I could have send my receipt to the buyer, you know. That coupled with the fact that bulga lists testimo as a seller on their site might have helped... ugh. I just really can't beleive they'd have sold me a fake.

If anything I would think this is the problem.  I've seen this happen to several things, like the Balenciaga moto bags & MJ stam. It seems that if they have to get another factory to help them fill orders or they are rushing the quality just isn't the same.

All the items I have ordered from Testimo were authentic, including a Bliss Lau bag.  If anything I would bring the quality issue to Bulga.  But all in all I think your bag is real.  I think you have someone who changed their mind about the item, but I'm jaded when it comes to Ebay customers

I ordered a purple bulga from testimo last fall. To me everything is fine. The leather is just super soft, but it is real...I also have seen Bulgas sold at local boutiques near me, and the quality seems the same. Maybe the buyer was just weirded out, buying things from ebay always makes me more suspicious than usual of authenticity.
