How cartoonists view the cartoon controversy

I was going to put this on the other thread, but I didn't want to change the topic too much. These are from http://cagle.com/news/Muhammad/main.asp


These are from Western newspapers around the world. I don't agree with them all, but they reminded me of how powerful art can be.

does anybody remember in high school text books for social studies how there are always editorial cartoons in each major time period? not saying anything about the recent cartoon events, but just reminding everybody that cartoons have served a huge purpose in history, especially for time periods when there was a fair amount of illiteracy around.
