I ordered my wedding shoes from Pearl's Place (a shop in LA) that everyone raves about. They quoted me $100 ($20 below retail) and said I should have them in 4 wks at most. I totally spaced asking how much shipping was, and then couldn't get through on the line again to ask. I researched what people who ordered from PP had paid for shipping and it seemed reasonable, and emailed to inquire and was told $12.
I got my CC statement - complete with a $120 charge from Pearl's Place! They charged me $20 to ship my shoes, and I haven't even received them yet 4 wks later! If that isn't bad enough, I could have ordered from another company including 2 wk shipping and paid $110.
What can I do now? I emailed them to verify what they normally charge for shipping, and if I have to I'll attempt to call (their phones are just impossible). Do you think if I refused the package they would take them back and credit me? Or possibly credit me a portion of the shipping costs? $20 just seems sooo exorbitant - that's more than most people paid to have their dresses shipped from Pearls!
ETA: So they replied and verified $12 for shipping, so I'm assuming the extra $8 they left off my total when I ordered was taxes? Waiting for another reply ....
