bump on my head
Permalink Closed

Hey - I had a cyst removed about three years ago. It was weird, it puffed up half my face, then receded to lump under teh skin that wouldn't go away. The doctor (small town, I think he did a bad job) said the best thing to do was cut it out and it wouldn't scar. well, it left a hole in my head, under the skin, if that makes sense? which has always bugged me. But the hold gradually seemed to be disappearing, then yesterday it puffed up. Then it scabbed over. Now I have a big, red lump on my forehead and everyone thinks I walked into a door. Anyone know what this is? My school's health services aren't goign to be much help. And I don't know if I can afford a dermatologist.

Gosh Dizzy, I really think you should have a dermotologist look at it somehow. Let him know your situation, maybe they will allow payments. This does not sound like something you should dismiss.

It sounds like there may be some sort of infection or something...for it got red and plump up, something must be inflamed. I would go to your school health offices and if nothing else maybe they can recommend someone who deals with student financial situations.

Oh boy, I got a second one, which prompted me to go to the doctor, which prompted a sort of "who's on first routine..." that would be funny if it hadn't cost me so much money. I told the doctor "My head has these scabs on it that came out of nowhere," and he told me "You have an abrasion - you must have bumped your head," and I said, 'No, the reason it's weird is because I DIDN"T bump my head," and he just gave me this "Kids these days thinking they didn't bump their head when they clearly did..." look and I made him get another doctor in there because I DID NOT BUMP MY HEAD IT CAME OUT OF NOWHERE AND THAT"S WHY IT FREAKED ME OUT. I was watching tv when the first one popped out. Tv. Sitting still. With no one anywhere near me.

So they told me the bumps would probably go away on their own, and the two big ones faded and started, but a third one started out today and I dont[' know what's up and I'm starting to not care. So what if I have scars. It's easier than dealing with one more weird thing because ever since I moved to this godawful cold state it's been like someone has a voodoo doll with my name on it and I don't really care anymore.

Anyway, the doctor said to come back if they dont' get better, so i guess I'll do that, but I'm not real hopeful that the doctors know what they're doing...

your school clinic should be able to get you a referral for a dermo--you shouldn't have to pay on your own, nor should you have to deal with doctors who have no idea what's wrong with you!
