So, dry facial skin has never been a problem for me in the past. In fact, up until a few years ago, I was rather oily. For the past week I have had pretty dry skin. Nothing has changed; I'm still drinking the same amount of water, the winter has been more mild than usual, no new products...

Do I treat it like it's a quicky phase and not worry about it, it will pass? Or do I assume it's time to pony up for a new moisturizer for dry skin? If so, any recs?

every year around this time I get the dried skin also.  I have also had a mild winter if you can even call it winter.  More like the fall that would never end!!  Anyways I'm bad about using a daily moisturizer anyways so when I get dried and flaky I just start using it every day (sometimes twice a day) and I lay off my acne medicines for a few days and that seems to help.

my skin is really dry too, and this is going to sound crazy but I used some eye cream on the dry spots and it worked great! (I was out of my normal moisturizer and was scared to death the eye stuff would make me break out, but it actually worked really nicely and my skin looks better than I ever remember... I won't do it every day though)

i have noticed this too.. i think it's just something that comes with age. maybe it's time to rethink your routine. i find that cleansers and toners make a big difference. you want to make sure you're not stripping too much moisture from your skin. dry dehydrated skin leads to wrinkley-prune-y-ness.

I think you are right, I need to rething my skin program. I recently stopped using my favorite cleanser because it felt like it was striping all moisture from my skin, however I didn't have dry skin yet (it was fall though, instead of winter). I then bought a small bottle of a different cleaner, and while my skin doesn't feel striped when I use it, my skin is drier. I'm just about out, so I suppose it's time to dry a different one. I know everybody loves philosophys, so maybe I'll pick that one up. I need a new moisturizer too. The good news: I have a toner I love (Dermalogica).

Yey! I now have a bonafide excuse for going to sephora this weekend. My husband is going to hate me!
