though we've got the single/no house/no schoo thing working against us still. Next year, we are going to be totally screwed. Screwed.
Although we're married and we have a house, we hardly see any of the benefits when it comes to tax time. Any interest you pay on the house you can get a deduction for, but I believe to make the paperwork worthwhile, you should have about $9,000 worth of deductions. Even with our house and our property tax, we don't even come close to having $9k worth of deductions. So, it's pretty much just as if we don't own our house. It sucks.
I guess the benefit here is that we live well within our means and don't have too many expenses. Still stinks though. Last year we broke even, but this year, DH and I are both making more, so I'm guessing we're going to have to pay, even though we have the max withheld from our paychecks. Boooooooooo!
