STYLETHREAD -- LET'S TALK SHOP!

So, I got these Bernardo Milly sandals last year from www.jildor.com:

I wore them some, but not so much that there should be any noticable wear and tear.  Well, I was putting them into another closet the other day and a wire was poking out of the part that goes around the ankle!  It was sharp too!  I don't know if I should cut off the wire, or what.  I mean, there's a small hole in the leather because of it.  Do I try and sent it back to the retailer?  Or would I send them back to Bernardo?  Or take them to a shoe cobbler?  I just don't know what to do!  Any ideas?
