My bridesmaid just told me that she will be 4 mos. preggers at my wedding! I am very happy for her and want her to feel pretty in whatever bridesmaid dress I choose. We had thought that we were going to go with the new AT celebrations line, but they might show a little too much of what you want to hide.
So I am going back to a local designer that has a structured a-line dress that will hide, but will someone that is 4 mos. preggers be comfortable in a structured dress versus something that is flowy? They do not have any maternity dresses in either line, and as of right now she is a size 12, and the local designer only goes up to a 14? This is her second child and I have heard that you show more with your second. I really want all my bridesmaids to feel pretty...any help? TIA! They both have true waist lines so they won't cut into the belly.
AT sorry it is so small, but the fabric moves.
Miranda Richard- there is only a sketch...but this is just a true a-line dress.
Honestly, it's going to be extrememly hard to tell what size she's going to be at that time. Even if they measured and made adjustments just a week before, there's a possibility that it wouldn't fit for the wedding.
I think you'd be better off with an empire waist dress to minimize sizef-fluctuation problems. I think anything with a true waist line is going to be smack on the belly.
Couldn't you just get her a dress in the same/similar color from a different line?
it'd be hard to guesstimate where she will be at 4 mos pregnant, but i was still wearing most of my regular clothes. maybe get something with a bit of elasticity to the fabric?
I think you have to go with an empire waist on this one.
There is no way to tell how big she will be.. and you don't want to estimate conservatively. She could really feel bad about her dress if it wont be flattering on her.
I agree with the other girls on this one. Flowy and empire waist is probably the safest route to go. My gf and I were preggers around the same time and both of us didn't "pop" until the 5th or 6th month. She's with her 2nd child now, and she started getting a pooch at 3 months and "popped" in the middle of the 4th. Everyone is different, but it's better to be safe than uncomfortable.

Ok here is more of the problem, my wedding is in May and it is too late to order from a regular bridesmaid line. I do want all the girls in the same color so I really don't have any idea what to do now. I appreciate everyone's thoughts.
Hmmm, maybe begin by taking a swatch of the other BM's dress fabric around and seeing what you can find?
Or maybe you could just order the size 14 dress plus some extra fabric - I'd think you could probably make something work with a decently talented seamstress that could accomodate a belly as it gets closer?

I am actually 20 weeks pregnant right now with my second child and while I was prepared to be a little bigger at this time than last time like I was warned, my belly is pretty much showing the same except for maybe a few extra pounds.
It's true there is no way to be sure how much she will be showing, but ask her to base it on her last pregnancy with some extra room....four months along is still not that big, it's usually a really fun time for those who show early in their maternity clothes, I happened to really pop out at around 5 1/2 to 6 months.
I think your best bet is to ask her what she thinks about dresses and sizes, pick a few good ones that look like they could fit a little pregnant belly and ask her to choose which she thinks she will feel comfortable in.
