Please don't think I'm shallow and spoiled (well I am spoiled) but can ya'll please help me with my new car. I'm down to the 2006 BMW 325i or 2006 Mercedes-Benz C230 Sport Sedan. I'm not sure on color yet. I was thinking either silver, black or white. Which car would you choose and why?
For some reason I have always preferred Mercedes to BMW's, however, I think the styling on the BMW is more sporty. I would choose the BMW. Also, just for my 2 cents on color, I like black and silver, but don't care for white on a car. I've had both a silver car and a black car, and the silver hides dirt better.
WOW - both are VERY nice, but I chose SILVER b/c it doesn't show dirt that easily as black, even tho' black is a nice color too. LOL My last car was silver, my current one is a burgundy color, wish I had picked a lighter color. Good luck on your decision.

I drive a 2005 c230 Kompressor in a light bluey color. I like driving it around, the handling is awesome, it has automatic everything, and I feel cool driving it. I had an unfortunate incident a couple of months back (some %$^& broke into my car) but other than that, it's been good. Getting an oil change is expensive, and I hate getting gas but that could be because I'm 21 and spending $200 for an oil change is $$$.
If you decide to get the Mercedes, don't choose black or white. Great colors, but on a Mercedes, to me, it looks cheap.
depends on whether you're leasing or buying. if leasing, go with the bmw for the power, if buying go with the mercedes for the lower maintenance costs. (bmw leasing includes maintenance costs)
my vote is for silver for either model as it doesn't show dirt easily or look dated quickly.
when I bought my silver c230, I was also looking at a bmw 325. I chose the mercedes because of the much lower maintenance costs and that it only had a not-very-fast 4 cylinder engine (I'm a very agressive driver and need to slow down anyway.) it's also been very reliable.
loved the bmw, but if buying, the frequent maintenance and maintenance costs are so high and it's a much more tempermental vehicle which translates to potentially more time in the shop if you don't tweak the dang thing every couple of months - too much maintenance for me...

I've just so happened to have both of those very cars, both in black. I really prefer Merecedes in general, but the BMW in this class comes with way more options for the money that the Mercedes in this class. Both drive very well, but I really felt much more important in the Mercedes. The Beemer is just more sporty while the Benz is just more "glamorous."
I guess it boils down to whether you prefer sporty or fashion. But they are both nice.
Although I like the BMW, I have met VERY few people I like that drive one.. They just happen to be the most arrogant of all my friends. But that is totally a personal preference. And I'm prob just running into a bunch of jerks. :)

I drive a BMW.
The BMW actually has a very comprehensive maintenance plan if you buy. All maintenance is covered for 4 years after date of purchase. I haven't had any maintenance issues, but it's also my leisure car, so I don't drive it as much as I do my beater car.
My mother LOVES mercedes and will always be loyal, and she was horrified when I got the BMW, but I have been very pleased.

Obviously I dont mean any of you girls! :)
I am more referring to the pompous men at my old job and MANY of my husbands old HS/College friends.

hahaha. it's funny because there's a joke at the hospital that i used to work at that if a doctor made and a$$hole comment, we would say, "he's part of the beamer club", no joke. and when i was in h.s. i worked at an upscale dry-cleaners and the nicest people(like 5 regulars) owned mercedes.
besides that, i agree, bmw's are hard to maintain, we have a couple friends who have them. i think that mercedes are a much more glamorous cars.

my vote is for the bmw. my husband currently drives a bmw and he's really happy with it. i drove a mercedes before i got my current car and while i liked it, i never loved it - there were always minor problems that i'd have to take it in for that got really annoying. with the bmw, my husband's had it for over a year and he hasn't had to take it in yet.
but they're both beautiful cars - you really can't go wrong!
My boyfriend (god, how weird is it to say that?) just recently got the same Mercedes in silver and he loves it. I think it's an awesome car. I always want him to drive (and I'm a complete driving control freak, so that says something).
I'm not a fan of BMWs so take that into consideration. I think a Mercedes is way classier.
And definitely go with silver, unless you want to wash the car a lot. Black is super hot but it requires regular washings.
BMW b/c it's a younger car... Save the Mercedes for when you're older (it's typically an older person's car...no offense to anyone). I would go with silver, although silver is the most difficult to see in the rain/at night. Or black. My ex has a black 325 convertible, and me likee. It doesn't really show dirt that much, and it's very classy looking.
