Favorite buys of 2005
Permalink Closed

I thought it would be a good idea to look back at 2005 and pick out our top 5 or so purchases of the year. Many of us agreed that this year would be the year of quality (not quantity) and great accessories. It might help to remember what we really love and use from last year while making up shopping lists for this year.

Not in any order:

1. Black leather boots for wearing with skirts/dresses.
2. Brown leather boots " " " "
3. Brown/white tweed peacoat that fits like a glove.
4. A wider array of handbags (in colors other than neutrals).
5. Jewelry that I have made.

Good question!  the first things that come to mind are:

1. Cosabella bras - they have seriously changed my life

2. Leopard print shoes

Franco Sarto Iota

3. COH corduroys in chocolate brown and grey.  They fit so beautifully.

4. A bronze clutch like this, because it's the perfect size and color.  It goes with everything, is small yet big enough to hold the necessities.

Hobo International Handbags Lena

5. AE skirt.  I lived in it this summer/fall.

6. Jack Rogers sandals

Great poll!

Now you've gotten me thinking...

1. Beverly Feldman embroidered pumps. I love them, they're very comfortable for a high heel, and they get lots of compliments when I wear them.

2. A pair of tan cords - impulse purchase from a Kohl's (I normally don't shop there). They were about $25 and I wish I'd gotten several other colors. They've held up well, are flattering, and so comfortable.

3. Gap cashmere hoodie. I never really considered "cashmere" and "hoodie" together, but got an awesome F&F discount on it and I have lived in it since I bought it in November.

4. Everything I bought at H&M this summer (we don't have H&M in my state). And for such great prices. I got three sweaters, a skirt, a tank, and boyshorts. And they're all still fab - holding up well and I have no buyer's remorse.

5. My sweater-coat from Nordie's. Another impulse purchase, but so warm and cozy and it makes me feel tall and sexy while I'm keeping warm.

Okay, I have to add a #6. NCshopper reminded me of my Paolo shoes...so my lace d'orsays. I love these shoes and wear them every chance I get. *s*

These are what come to mind for me right now - I may add more later:

1.  My True Religion Joeys - these are the best-fitting, most flattering jeans I've ever owned:

Blue Cult True Religion Big T Joey in Dark Pony Express

2.  My BR gray python heels - they are so versatile

3.  My new 7 Skirt - I can already tell I'll get a lot of wear out of it

7 For All MankindŽ Boycut Skirt

3.  My Express Editor pants - I have a ton in all different colors.  I love them.  Best fitting work pants for me.

The ones that really stick out are...

1. Grey wool jacket from Banana Republic.

2. Black leather bag (my all-time favorite bag) which actually is Apostrophe from Sears.

3. Trouser pants from AE.  These I wear day after day in warm weather.

4. White Coach purse.  Goes with so many outfits.

5. Brown leather Dr. Scholl's slids with the rhinestone buckle, another warm weather staple.

This is a great poll!  My faves are/were:

  •   My brown BR wool herringbone suit (skirt, pants, and jacket)
  •   Silver Bernardo sandals
  •   Frye Harness boots
  •   Red Linea Paolo pumps
  •   Brown Seychelles wedges
I do pretty well when I shop.  I'm so into planning out my purchases that I end up with items that really serve me well.  The downfall is that my wardrobe isn't terribly spontaneous feeling, but I do have a lot of items that work well together.

ETA:  OMG!  I totally forgot my favorite purchases of 2005!!!  Ironically, both came from Target--my brown tiered $13 skirt and my $12 silver ballet flats!  I lived in both of those pieces this summer

I love these Birks so much...

I realize Birks aren't "fashionable" but I think they look cool and they're so comfy.

This sweater...

It looks good cause it's cashmere and it's so easy to just throw on.

This coat...

That I stalked all fall and totally love and adore.

Citizens Faye jeans...

I look 10 lbs thinner in these.

1. MJ Lola. I think I feel physical pain when it doesn't match my outfit.
2. Old Navy sweater. It goes with everything

3. BR pencil skirt, because it's long & has pockets

4. my collection of editor pants in brown, grey, black pinstripe & brown stripe. Boring, but I wear them more than anything else.

5. This BR dress, which I have only worn 1x this year, but adore anyway

Gold Chanel sneakers 40% off, bought in SF Chanel store last June when was short-cutting through store after buying tux at Brooks Brothers for DH for wedding. I have a photo somewhere. I have foot problems, so these are special to me.

Next is my MOG dress, which I am meaning to post along with photos of my son's wedding. I have a new Apple, so I'm still learning how to do stuff with it. Anyway, Carmen Marc Valvo, 3 pc. outfit, from NM. Now I must, I must get those wedding photos posted.

I will wear the outfit again, but separated into different pieces. (The land of MOB-MOG shopping is indeed a frightening one.)

My grey, purple and pink Puma Speedcats that I got on sale. I totally forgot about those until I saw this question!

A black turtleneck, herringbone martins, and a grey zippered sweatshirt thing from BR.

Two Scrapbook graphic tees from Delias that are so soft and broken in.

Reaction wedge boots. I'm really clumsy and tend to injure myself a lot in the winter, but I have never slipped while wearing these. I should have bought them in brown, too.
