so these boots finally came from alloy:



And i really like them.  i wore them shopping today and they were pretty comfortable.  i put a ball-of-the-foot cushion in them but think they really need an entire insole (or maybe just a cushier front part). 


like sfclinevandy and heatherlynn said, they might run a tad small.  i ended up getting a 6.5 (i can be 6.5 or 7) and it fits.  i couldn't wear super thick socks with them though. 


for the price (on sale for $31) they are great -- not cheap looking (which was a concern).

Update:


i wore them again today with a thicker insole and walked a lot more than yesterday.  My feet started hurting a little by the end of the day (mostly the ball of my foot) but not too bad. 


I would probably rather have sized up (got a 7 instead of my usual 6.5) b/c then i could put more cushion in them.


but still, overall, they're great for the price.
