I need jeans I can wear but I don't want to spend a lot on maternity jeans. I saw BrazenCanadian's post in the weekend shopping thread and right now Revolve has some awesome deals on salt work jeans. They have a pair of Orchard Street's for $47 in size 29. My pre-pregnancy Orchard Street's are size 27. Do you guys think the 29 would fit?
I don't know how far along you are, but regular jeans, even if they are in a bigger size, will eventually get unbearably uncomfortable. you might be able to wear them through your first trimester and possibly through half of the second, but when you start to pop you will NOT want anything tight on your belly. I know you didn't specifically ask about this--but I just bought one pair of maternity jeans (Citizens of HUmanity) and wore them all the time with different tops, etc. It worked fine and was worth the money b/c I got so much wear out of them. I even wore them after the baby was born for a few weeks. I ended up later getting 1 pr of mat. gap cords and another pr of maternity sevens for $35 at a resale shop, but I would have been just fine with just my one pr of citizens. Also, if you are going to have more kids then you can wear them during future pregnancies. JMO.
Also another thing to consider when sizing up for your belly is that they won't fit properly everywhere else. One thing you can do is find some jeans for a good deal in your size and buy a belly panel at Walmart or a craft store and have your seamstress cut the waist and sew in the panel.
Thanks guys. That's what I figured but I thought I'd ask if anyone has tried it. I'm just having a hard time finding stuff that fits. I have two pairs of maternity jeans: a pair of COH's that I got on Ebay and a pair of Blue 2's from Mimi. I really like the COH ones but I'm not crazy about the Blue 2's. Their sizing is S, M, L. I got S and they're fine in the belly but kind of saggy everywhere else, especially in the butt. I haven't had any luck with anything at Target or Old Navy either. I haven't tried the Gap because there's not one near me that sells maternity. I could order but I'm unsure about sizing. Did you wear your prepregnancy size? Right now I'm in the 1st week of my 6th month so I'm getting bigger.
FP, that's a good suggestion, I might have to try that. Right now I'll just suck it up and wear what I have. I'll probably have to buy a bigger pair for the last couple of months anyway.

This is so true.
Now, I was grateful that I have a pair of Seven's that are one size too big because I wore them through my first and second trimester and for many post partum months too. I had one pair of maternity Seven's I bought on ebay too, I loved them.
As for Gap Maternity, if the size is wrong, remember that any Gap store is supposed to take internet returns, so you aren't stuck paying double shipping.

do you ever shop at motherhood? they have some cute jeans and they don't cost a whole lot either. i thought i was going to hate maternity jeans, but they do come in some cute styles that are inexpnsive too. i have never owned a pair of jeans that cost more that $50 so i may not know what i am missing in the more expensive jeans though. i know that they are not all that attractive when they don't have a shirt covering the top, but trust me, they are worth a try.
Thanks for the suggestion serisvictoria, I appreciate it. About a month ago I tried on tons of jeans at motherhood and none of them fit right. Maybe I'm just being too picky but most of them were too big in the butt and thigh. It looks like they have a lot of new styles though, so I'll probably go again tomorrow. Maybe I'll have better luck this time. Thanks again!
at fist i was like that too with the jeans there, but trust me, the further you get the more pushed out your butt gets, even if you don't gain a lot of weight, you will start filling out the but.
To be the singular voice of dissent here....it really depends on how your are carrying....when I was pregnant with my son I carried long and high, which meant that I was able to wear regular low rise jeans in a size larger than normal during my whole pregnancy. My advice, invest in one pair of maternity jeans for now and see how your body fills out as the pregnancy progresses.
To answer your question about Gap sizing--I wore my same prepregnancy size (2) in maternity sizing. Out of all the maternity clothes I got , I preferred Gap maternity, even over the high end stuff. Their mat. stuff is so cute and really comfortable!
