While I wasn't thrilled with this episode, it was much better than last weeks. This is the first episode where I actually was excited for next week's previews, although I'm sure it will be a huge disappointment, as always. I'm a little disappointed that they're making Seth out to be some sort of pothead, that whole thing just didn't make sense to me. Marissa's sister annoyed me more this week than last week. Hopefully some things will get tied up next week.

Ugh this episode annoyed me, but I loved it. I don't buy that Seth would never have smoked pot before. I'm sorry but those kind of kids would defintely have been partying in high school. And who rolled the joints for him? Caitlin? Who even taught him to smoke? This seems like an unlikely first getting high experience, particularly for Seth. I also don't think Seth would get high before his college interview, he's smarter than that. And he wouldn't be having all these second doubts, he might be concerned, but ultimately he'd still want to go to Brown.

Which brings me to the subject of Brown. That school is so hard to get into! It INFURIATES me that all of the sudden Seth and Summer are totally in. No one is a shoe-in for Brown. I don't care who you are. And particularly not Summer. This drives me completely crazy about TV shows.

This show is just getting so ridiculous.

I missed the first 15 minutes -- did something happen to make Seth so uptight about his interview? I saw when he was talking about being afraid of leaving the good thing he had going, but only two or three weeks ago he told Summer how he couldn't wait to get the hell out of Newport. It just seems like the show is trying too hard to create a problem for him.

I really hope Julie gets together with Dr. Roberts. I love her character.

However, I am very much looking forward to next week's episode. Boy do I hope Johnny falls off that cliff!

Me too!  He's supposed to be like a skater, comic book-maker, indie-rock kind of kid.  I guess they have to pretend that kids don't smoke to keep the show on the air, but I don't buy it either.

this episode was a great improvement over recent eps.  still not great though.  although i loved almost every article of clothing worn by the female cast members, so that gives it some extra points just for that.

i don't know...i thought it was kind of goofy that Seth would have freaked out that severely, but not that he'd never smoked up before.  wasn't he a huge nerd with no friends before Ryan?  no matter indie in his own bedroom, he had no one to get pot from/smoke pot with.  eh, or maybe i'm just naive, because i was a dork and never smoked pot in HS.  i wouldn't have had the first clue where to even get some.  except from people who would never have talked to me.  anyway...i did think it a little odd that he had the technique all down though.

scarlett - near the beginning of the episode Ryan was going over practice questions with S & S and Summer said that Miuccia Prada was the public figure that has most impacted her life, although she managed to justify by citing Prada's vision and business savvy or something and actually in the end came off sounding pretty with-it.  Seth on the other hand totally bungled his "where do i see myself in 10 years question" by getting all lost in his existential argument to just stay here and now because he is happy...or something.

I love how the preview for next week was about how something really dramatic is going to happen in the last 5 minutes and then it said "you wont be disappointed!" I'll only be disappointed if Johnny doesn't wind up dead!

I wasn't surprised that Seth freaked out. That tends to be his MO (remember the comic book fiascoes) and even though he's a dork I've never gotten the impression that he's especially driven (which of course makes it really unlikely that he'd get into Brown). As a personal aside - when I was in high school I was thisclose to skipping my Cornell interview because I was hanging out with my bf and was sort of like "screw this, I don't care if I get in, I just want to be able to hang out with my bf as much as possible" but of course my parents are not as understanding as the Cohens and I knew my mom would have my head on a platter if she found out that I didn't show up!

I also don't think the pot virgin thing is totally unrealistic. I was the indiest chick in my high school and hung out with a lot of frequent drug users and never tried it. Nor did I drink. Actually my sister was a pretty big drinker in h.s. and I don't think she tried pot then either.

So the point of all these stories from my life is....The OC is totally realistic and Seth is my soulmate.

I love Seth, he is the only reason I watch the show. Sooo., his pot experience, realistic or not, was the most entertaining aspect of the episode. I laughed out loud when he told Ryan he didn't know where the joints in the ashtray came from.

I really can't recall the rest of the show. The other bits are just spaces where I wait for Seth to reappear. Oh, Caitlin is very annoying.

Ha ha, I'll only be disappointed if Johnny doesn't end up dead too!

Seth is also my main reason for watching the show. How I wished I'd known a boy in high school who was like that. Or rather, how I wish I had realized that the guy I actually knew who was like Seth would have been the perfect boyfriend. Damn you, high school stupidity!

I enjoy how Caitlin talks just like Marissa -- they're both annoying, yet it works.

Valenciana, thanks for filling me in on the beginning!

is it just me, or are the writers just reusing old storylines? I was watching the season 1 dvd today and isn't the whole marissa/caitlin/johnny thing a lot like kirsten/haylie/jimmy- at first? haylie resents kirsten, and vice versa, when she starts to hook up with jimmy kirsten gets upset.. etc etc.

i finally actually watched the episode over the weekend, and i changed my mind--the way they handled the seth/pot-smoking was totally realistic and believable.  i really like the seth character a lot again (he was annoying last season) because they are sort of showing that the "old" seth is still in there and still insecure, etc.  i thought it was a good episode, but so sad at the end--with the sadness-montage of everyone being sad and hopeless, even sandy.

it was kind of heartbreaking that julie cooper-nichol didn't get her guy, either--i think she is totally softening up and the reversal of fortune is turning out to be good for her in a lot of ways.  it was a good scene when she was leaving dr. roberts' house and checked to make sure the door was locked, aww.  she'll get him eventually, i think, but she will have been sufficiently humbled that she will actually really appreciate him, not just use him for his money.
