ok so i'm off to connecticut and nyc starting tomorrow (so excited!!) and i have no idea what to pack!  exactly how cold is it over there?  specifically, what kinds of shoes can i wear?  are peep toe heels absolutely impractical?  will my pretty shoes be ruined by the snow?  what do i wear with skirts?  is it too cold to wear skirts?  ack, help!!!

Today it was absolutely freezing.  I couldn't even bear the walk from my office to the car.  However, there have been some relatively nice days recently.


specifically, what kinds of shoes can i wear?  are peep toe heels absolutely impractical? 


I wouldn't wear sandals or peep toes, but anything else goes.


will my pretty shoes be ruined by the snow? 


Here in NJ, it hasn't snowed too recently so it is mostly melted.  I'm sure in NYC, it is all melted.


what do i wear with skirts? 


Boots or even closed toe pumps.  Unless you are planning to be hanging out outside, I don't think it matters.


is it too cold to wear skirts? 


I don't think so.

it's supposed to be milder this weekend, well for us. there's no snow on the ground and according to the forecast rain on sun & mon. i wouldn't bring the peeptoes b/c of the rain, but any sort of pump or boot will be fine. definitely bring a pair of walking shoes. and if you want to wear a skirt, i'd bring either boots or tights to wear with pumps.

Umm here in Connecticut tiday I nearly froze my ass off.It's suppose to be ,milder for the weekend, but ofcourse at night Jackfrost WILL lose his mind.Pack warm stuff and plan on some layers.

i think you said you're going to be in farmington, which is near me, and there is still snow on the ground here and it was really cold today.  it's going to be 45-ish this weekend but rain on sunday. 


i have forgone skirts for the winter -- it's too cold here for me, and i don't wear my good shoes out either b/c the snow/wettness and also the salt that they put all over everything will ruin them.  i pretty much am in boots all the time unless we're going out where i know it's car to door with minimal walking through stuff.


that said, nyc is usually warmer than up here.
