Help! Quick--leaving for Rolling Stones concert soon!
Permalink Closed

My BF just scored a pair of free tickets and I don't know what to wear.  I want to look kinda funky, but that is a hard look for me to pull off because is it so totally not me.  I went to Forever 21 and bought a black-and-white tweed vest (I found a similar one on the web site, but can't seem to copy and paste it), so I want to dress around this.

Should I wear a pink s/s scoopneck top with a slight shirring around the neck, medium-wash jeans, and black boots?

Or should I wear a lace-top black cami with the same jeans and red boots?  The things I don't like about this outfit is that the cami on has a little bit of lace on the top and I don't really like the idea of completely baring my arms (it is cold here!).  But I do really like my red boots, so I don't know.

Then I am going to wear a short black beaded necklace and a beaded black bracelet.

What do you all think?

Hmmm, you could also do a fitted longsleeve tee under it, or a boys white under teeshirt if you have one of those.

To post from the F21 website, you have to click and drag over the object to highlight it in blue and then go to edit and copy.  I'd really like to see it!

Product Picture
Fuzzy Twill Vest
Ok, my vest is shaped like this, but the front is a black and white tweed.  It is not on the web site unfortunately.

I thought of wearing the pink top with long sleeves underneath it but  I don't have anything thin enough.  I should have bought one at F21, they were so cheap (kicking myself in the ass right now).

The only long sleeve shirts I have are white, maroon, and black--would any of those look okay underneath the vest?  I really do like the idea if wearing long sleeves because it is cold out today.

when I saw them, I wore straight leg Lee jeans, my Dad's light blue wool v-neck sweater, and cowboy boots with a flask snuck in in the shaft of the boot.... I roasted my ass off in that sweater - it was festival seating on the main floor (which means no seating) and there were 10,000 people on the main floor - I was in the center with one person between me and the stage - and all those 10,000 people pushing against me... Iggy Pop got hit in the groin with a slurpee and was booed off... Santana was fabulous... and the Stones took 4 hours to get on stage after Santana was done - the whole while playing Purple Haze over. and over. and over. and over... it was 1981.

for 2006, I would go with the black cami and vest, as well as the black jewelry you described - oh and with the red boots.  have fun!!!

Hmmm, I think I'd go with short sleeves.  Do you have any kind of vintage-y looking tees or anything?  If not, I'd go with the black longsleeve top under the vest, and then toughen it up a little bit with your jewelry and maybe do a smokey eye?

I agree with detroit. I like your second idea with the cami. It sounds both funky and hot. I know that's not much help considering you don't want to bare your arms though.

Maybe the black l/s tee will work just as well?

I think you'll be fine w/a cami or short sleeved top under it.  It gets pretty hot in concerts.  Everytime I wear long sleeves, I swear I always regret it!

Thanks for all the help!  I am leaving now (I think I just broke my getting-ready-for-a-concert record).  I appreciate all the comments and I wish I had more time to get an outfit together--but you all helped!

I decided on the black lace cami (which I realized has a small lace trim on the bottom too, so it is not too boring!), with a deep-V black cardi (sooo old, has only been worn to grungy bars in the past few years), the vest, jeans, and red boots.  Oh, and I ditched the black bead necklace and am wearing a chunky silver necklace.  I really like it but it is too "tough-looking" for me so I have only worn it once--I think it will be good for tonight.

Detroit--I don't know why, but your description of the show made me smile.
