Cleaning blinds
Permalink Closed

I have "honeycomb" window blinds in my living room and noticed a bunch of black gunk on them, almost looks like soot.  I'm wondering if it's caused by burning candles?  Anyway, I was wondering if it would be possible to clean them?  Or am I out of luck?

TIA!

Do you have something like a Shark handvac (the plug in kind) with brush attachments?  I'd test a small spot to make sure it doesn't rub in.

I had to dust all the time in my last apartment to avoid this - and I wasn't home often enough to burn candles so I dont' think it was it. I think it was something in the hvac system. Anywya, it was easiest to keep it from building up by using a swiffer duster (I so these) but if I ever let it go, it came off pretty easily with soapy water - but my bllinds were wooden. So I guess I dont' know, actually, but good luck
