I walk maybe 1.5 miles each way to work. I don't really have very many cute shoes that will make it through that walk. I refuse to do the commuter wearing sneakers look. All my coworkers drive to work and therefore they always wear such cute cute pointy toes and stilettos and it makes me so sad.
I just found out today that I have been assigned to an in house position at my company and that I will be wearing business casual for at least the next two years.
What should I do? Do you girls have any suggestions.
I'm thinking of getting these to walk to work in.
Lacoste Antibes PWC $120.
I'm also contemplating getting a pair of these. I'm happy the heels are more like the old Dollyannas.
Maybe Campers? Here's an idea...there's much more at the Camper web site (which is Flash intensive)
Could these shoes be padded up enough to make the walk bearable/comfortable?
Do you girls have any ideas? Thoughts? I need serious help!
I don't think you can go wrong with any of the shoes you posted, actually. The flats will be comfy, Aerosoles are comfy, and so are Seychelles, so I actually think those are all good options. I'm really impressed with Seychelles quality, actually. They're well padded and there's good arch support in mine, and I could definitely walk quite a long way in those before my feet hurt.
Do you need to wear the same shoes to walk to work that you will wear when you're there? I wouldn't want to ruin my stilettos (or my feet!) so I never ever ever would wear them to work. But I have a bunch of flat shoes that are comfy but not Working Girl-- some ballet flats, some moccassins, flip flops (in the summer with skirts) and a pair of these:
I couldn't wear any of these once I get to the office, but I'm very happy to look commuter cute on the way to work and then I switch to my stilettos when I get there.
Those are all really cute and would be great for the walk. I walk about the same distance to and from work everyday, and I've had a lot of success w/ both J.Crew and Coach shoes. Even their pointy toe shoes work for me during the walk, as long as the heel is 3" or less. Oh, Kenneth Cole Reaction shoes also work well for long stretches of walking.
I want to carry as little as possible with me and be a bit lower-maintenence.
My plan is
get the Aerosoles on sale at a department store in the next few months...probably in this color.
get a pair or two of Campers at the Camper sale (which I think may be around June-ish). I probably won't get the exact style I posted, but kind of whatever my eye is drawn to and what works with my stuff. The shoes are super-comfy and well-padded. I like them because they're esoteric and very essentially Lilykind.
Wait for a sale or a good coupon code to get these. I think with some footpetals, slingback pads, and padding they'll be even more comfy.
I still need maybe two to three more pairs.
Could I wear the Lacoste ones in the office or are they too casual?
I'm waiting for spring to come to bring along more cute shoes.
The Lacoste ones should be fine with slacks, don't worry about it.
I'm not sure about the green ones - open toe shoes are hard for me to walk in for long distances, the edge rubs against the top of my toes and I get sore spots or blisters after a while.
I recently bought a pair of low-heel wedge loafers from Easy Spirit that are quite nice, work with a lot of things, and are very comfy to walk it. Also check out Ecco - they make a nice Mary Jane style shoe.
I have always loved campers - I vote for a pair of those - not necessarily the style you posted, although cute, there were others I liked on the site, but I can't copy the pictures! anyway - comfy, quality construction, and unique styling...
