Yes, i am just finishing up my christmas thank you notes - terrible i know. No good excuse -i'm trying to blame my finger / stitches but I didn't do that until Jan 11th, so i had plenty of time before that as well.
Here's where i need help - this was the first christmas my DH & i spent with each other's family - his dad & stepmom had us over for christmas dinner - pretty formal on china, very cozy, different than I'm used to - very nice, not "buffet" like my family has. Then they gave me $100 GC to my favorite shoe store in Baton Rouge, then we spent Mon - Fri in Destin at a cool resort & went to all manner of fabulous restaurants. How in the heck do I word a thank you note & include all those things without it sounding like "thanks for this & this & this..."
HELP!

What I would do is talk about how great it was to spend time with them over Christmas and use that to talk about dinner and the trip, then thank them for the gift certificate.
I'd say something to the effect that you had a wonderful time and enjoyed their company, and thank them for their generous gifts. If you've used your shoe store GC, you could mention what you bought there and how much you've worn them already.

I agree with Elle, it's always nice to hear what you bought with a CG or how you used or wore a gift for a special occasion. Or, maybe what you are planning on getting. Also, tell them how nice and relaxing your vaca. was and how nice it was to spend time with them and how the dinner made your x-mas really special and nice to spend it as a "family". They will like that.
I like the way Elle put it. I think it gets the point across without having to say 1. thank you for this 2. thank you for that 3. and thanks for this you get what i'm saying.
What shoe store was the GC to?? A store I don't know about??

I've never been in there. I guess I better go next time I'm home. Oh how did you like the new shopping center on Corporate? Kinda nice and upscale for BR...

It's cool - i lived in there before I moved. But I definately needed $100 to even think about getting anything there....
I saw the shopping center but to be honest I didn't even go over there. It looks nice, especially for BR, but we have such great shopping here I can be snooty about it.
