Yes yes yes. I know bastet watches as well. My DH made me watch the movie right before the series started so I've seen it from the beginning. Seems wrong that it's so good huh? But it is. If you haven't seen the first season, you should really rent it - it just came out on DVD - it's SOOO soo good. I it. If that makes me a nerd, so be it!

oh Laken, I've actually only seen it on DVD so far. My BF has been telling me for months about how good the show is, and he asked for the DVDs for Christmas so I got him the first season. We just worked our way through it and now I am having a crisis because I want to keep watching but we don't have the first half of season 2, and I can't start watching the new ones till I see it! I LOVE, love this show. I love the plotlines and the characters are all amazing.

Perfect! I was wondering if i'd be confused picking it up on season 2. A lot of times sci fi will do an all day or night marathon of their original shows so maybe you can catch the new season from the beginning. It's really really good too.

Yay! Another convert!

That show is seriously addictive.  Hubby and I look forward to Fridays because it's on.  Where is the "nerd" smiley?

If you have an ipod, you can download the first half of season 2 via itunes and then watch it on your computer. (but don't listen to the commentary, it has spoilers). Even if you don't have an ipod, I think it will work if you just download itunes.

I like Apollo and Starbuck too.  Last week's episode featured shirtless Apollo.  Very nice.   You have to watch season 2! Gaius goes crazier.

And he's British!  *drool* I had no idea the actor was British until I saw an interview with him.

ok,  i don't watch galactica, but i am a total nerd as well.  i watch the sci-fi chanel all the time.  i love to watch their movies like spiders 1-4 and all of that cheesey goodness.  i also am a trek'y.  that's right.  i am a star trek junkie.  so nerds unite and lets watch some sci-fi.

i'm actually glad to hear you gals say that you enjoy this show...my husband has been trying to watch some reruns from last season we have saved on the tivo and i have been avoiding watching them.  i know he wants the DVDs so he can catch up but i tried to pretend i didn't hear...but now i think i might buy them for him for a V-day gift.  he has successfully gotten me to watch Star Trek and i actually kind of like it.  so maybe i will like this too.

p.s. do we really need to watch from the beginning to understand or could we jump right into this new season?  the 15 minutes i saw of one episode were very confusing...some guy was having visions and they were using these made up words...

valenciana, I think you should watch from the beginning.  The episodes are all linked together, so it would be really confusing to just jump in mid-season.  Plus, you'll understand the characters better if you start from the first ep.

I agree. I watched the movie too - not sure if that is part of what they consider the "series" or not?

It's really good though!

and serisvictoria, we watch the whole line up on Friday nights, 2 Stargates & Battlestar - it's our date night. Damn, we really are cheesy nerds, aren't we????

Hubby and I got into with the first season DVD and went right through them, then our library got the first half of season 2 and we watched them so we are current and planning on watching tonight.

Yep, Gaius is a bit off his rocker, but I am more into the whole pregnant Sharon the Cylon story and her miracle baby she's carrying.

Valenciana, it was pretty much the same exact scenario with me and my boyfriend! I just didn't expect to like it, cause all sci-fi stuff I've ever seen--admittedly, hardly anything--has bored me to tears, but from what I've seen of other sci-fi, this is a lot denser and more brainy than the usual stuff. (Aside from the fact that they are on a spaceship.) The show examines really intellectual themes about human nature, morality, religion, and the foundations and trappings of "civilization." It's very well-written, the characters are complex and compelling and the plots are intriguing. I LOVE it!

And of course there are occasional gratuitous barracks scenes with towels.

And as for the made-up words, I think "frack" was one of the most genius TV ideas ever invented. "Hey, how about instead of dancing around swear words, and having our characters say "crap" and "shoot" when stuff goes wrong, how about we invent a new word that sounds exactly like what it's supposed to mean so they can use it the way people really talk!"

Ok, to add to my pure nerdiness I wanted to share this in case ya'll didn't know - you realize this is a remake of a 70s series? and that Starbuck was portrayed as a man? and Boomer was a man? and that the guy who now plays Tom Zerick was originally Apollo? He was the actor that was the MOST against the re-make of the series.

I tried to post pixs but imdb won't post & sci-fi site is in flash, but look up the original series on IMDB - i'm intrigued. My DH told me all that when we first started watching, but i had forgotten!
