long torse gals - tanks?
Permalink Closed

this has probably been posted numerous times, but i did a quick search and didn't find anything.

i need new tanks for this spring/summer and i was disappointed when i recently ordered some jcrew favorite tanks and they seemed to be several inches shorter than they were the last time i ordered some (maybe 2 years ago?) - these have always been my go-to tanks, so i'm at a loss for what other brands out there make tanks that are long enough to go past my belly button.

where do other gals out there with long torsos get longer tanks? i prefer something that could be worn alone if desired and not so thin that they have to be layered.

thank you!

what a bummer about the j.crew tanks. i thought they were suppose to be cut even longer this year? boo — cross those off my list.

so, i bought a tank at nordstrom a few months back that was long and thick enough to be worn on it's own. the brand is LA made. it's 100% cotton, but i've washed it a few times and it is still nice and long... and by long i mean hits-at-lower-hips-long. longer than any j.crew tank i've ever had by many inches. they had quite a few colors and i have recently spotted them online somewhere... if i remember where, i'll post.

Old Navy now has tanks that are a 'new long length'.  I have a pretty long torso and I have found the new one ones work well for me.

I just checked and they are called long layering tanks.  I thought they were thick enough to be worn on their own or layered.

Here is a pic of two of them:

I agreewith hotcocoa, LA Made tanks are great, long and good quality.  There's a good selection of LA Made tops on www.sunwalters.com

I've had good luck at Urban. Last year I bought one of those beaters with flower appliques which were around forever. It's pretty long and and although I normally wash it by hand I know I stuck it in with my regular laundry a few times and it didn't shrink. The brand is Damsel. I also have two of those cotton camis that they always have on the tables at Urban. Those are by Sparkle and they are almost a little bit too long on me (although that's just because some of my sweaters are so short that it looks absurd to have inches of my tank top hanging out underneath).

It doesn't say that these are by Sparkle but they look the same as what I have. They're 2 for $18 on the site.

I also have two tees by LA Made which I really like. They're tunic length so I don't know how their regular length is but the quality seems good.

while i'm not long waisted, i've had trouble finding tanks that are long enough to keep me from flashing the world (damn low rise jeans -- they're a blessing and a curse). anyway i picked up this tank from wetseal

Triple Binding Tank Top - ROUGE it's long, and the darker colors are pretty solid. plus it's like $10. hth.

I've actually found some great tees at Wet Seal that are longer in length.  I'd try the ones that Honey recommended.
